SE Michigan has long been a bastion of non-reality when it comes to what the market in the wider country is actually buying and driving. I visit relatives up there frequently around the holidays, and it has been noticeably like that for decades. I believe this is part of the reason for the decline of the American auto industry. All the execs and engineers live in the same suburbs, shop in the same malls, kids go to the same schools, and everyone is driving American iron, and things looks OK. Meanwhile in Atlanta, Houston, L.A., etc., it’s a whole ‘nother story, and the Japanese and Germans are all over the place.

Yes, I agree. When I travel ( especially the East Coast) the preponderance of foreign iron is frightening, in the sense that the big 3 lost these customers over the last 40 years. Dang shame....
