CNN: Gingrich challenges Romney to a bet

Londonderry, New Hampshire (CNN) – Newt Gingrich responded to a call Monday by GOP rival Mitt Romney to return the money he received from mortgage giant Freddie Mac by issuing his own challenge.

"If Gov. Romney would like to give back all the money he's earned from bankrupting companies and laying off employees over his years at Bain that I would be glad to then listen to him," Gingrich told reporters after a town hall, referring to the company Romney ran. "And I'll bet you 10 dollars, not 10 thousand that he won't take the offer."

The Truth Can Not Be Bought -- Perry campaign ad [1:02]

Rick Perry versus Conventional Wisdom ......"Another thing we need to realize is that this primary process and the debates, while messy and ugly, are inoculating and strengthening our candidates by bringing everything out in the open and giving them an opportunity to hone their debate skills. One man who has taken full advantage of the opportunity is Texas Governor Rick Perry, who never debated very often while running for office in Texas.

And speaking of Rick Perry, he may be just the man to defy conventional wisdom and stand political punditry on its head. He might actually be able to run right up the middle of the field between Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney the way John Kerry did in 2004 between then Democrat frontrunners Howard Dean and Dick Gephardt, according to George Will speaking on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.

The strategy goes something like this; Romney has to go after Gingrich because Gingrich is now the frontrunner and drawing support from Romney. Gingrich will have to defend himself by attacking Romney, as we saw during the ABC-hosted debate in Iowa Saturday night. As the two frontrunners pick each other apart that leaves an opening for a true conservative with sufficient financial backing such as Rick Perry. And, it doesn’t hurt that Governor Perry found his sea legs Saturday night in Iowa and had his strongest debate showing to date."....

Did you just come back from camping with the OWS crowd?

Both men made their money honestly.

You sound like a liberal troll when you use the phrase "spoils of pillage".

Sounds like a strategy change.

Would that have something to do with a downward trend on Gallup tracking?

And they seem amused about it.

Romney does live in a gigantic greenhouse made of really thin glass surrounded by beds of gravel the size of golf balls.

Does he really think he can play the “wealth is bad” card against anyone?

“Both men made their money honestly.”

And did you just login down there at the RNC headquarters?

They’re both slimy, and it can be pointed out by their past dealings. They may have made money LEGALLY, but the ethics are questionable at best. It’s LEGAL for a Congressperson to trade stocks on inside information, that doesn’t make it ethical, or right.

I’m voting Gingrich, but I wouldn’t trust Gingrich with my lunch money. He’s simply the best option out of some lousy choices.

Nice comeback, Newt. I want to see a real knockdown drag out fight between these two, because they have managed to climb to the top of the heap so far, and have managed to fight off the character assassins in the media that made palin and cain buckle. This should prove interesting.

Perry, was actually pretty funny when Romney kept saying that it wasn’t true...Perry chimes in with a chuckle:

“Was true then, and it’s true now.”

Who wouldn’t be amused? At least in Gingrich’s case, amassing all that wealth while not actually creating anything of value is quite a trick.

Mitt Romney and his supporters are starting to look like outright democrat progressives.

Asking another candidate to return money they earned fairly and squarely is a democrat election tactic.

Romney accused fellow candidate Rick Perry of misquoting his writings on health care

Has Perry produced his copy of Mitten's book to back up his claim?

And add to that, the hypocrisy that the OP thinks the 'solution' is the Crony Capitalist.
