We can agree to disagree. Although, if you consider your position to be the correct one, why wouldn't you want to show me the light?

To me, you seem uninformed and nieve.

I will assume it's solely the jobs and expenses that have you so obviously hot under the collar?

Solely? All jobs going to Quebecers, expenses of $2 Billion a year, and anti-English discrimination? Am I solely upset about a little thing like that?
I don't know about you, but that walks and talks like a problem to me.

Michael Coren of Sun News told me most people west of Renfrew have no idea the magnitude of this problem. Watch his show on Sun TV this week for more info.

You are implying that uniligual people are stupid. Many people can not learn a second language.
Good luck to the kids in the English speaking Provinces.

"For example, students enrolled in French-language immersion programs in Canada still produced non-native-like grammar when they spoke, even though they had years of meaning-focused lessons and their listening skills were statistically native-level."

I have no problem living peacefully with those who are different.
I'm glad you love French culture, and the “juno say quoix” it adds to your life.
Just stop expecting me to pay for it!
I don't need french on my cereal box, and to pay 10-20% more for any product because they have to add packaging and instructions in 2 languages.

I applaud them, and suggest we hold them up as models of Canadian industriousness and a challenge to our education system.

Please. That would qualify half of the illegal immigrants in California.

To you, French Canadians who can speak English are “models of Canadian industriousness” ?

In my opinion, the money you mentioned is money well-spent. While it may seem high to many of us now, the coming Canadian debt and monetary crisis will certainly cure the abuses; in not only this issue, but in the entire governmental system.

OK, so we should keep wasting 2 Billion a year until the country/world implodes?

If some where in your reply you have an actual argument FOR Official Bilingualism, I'm not seeing it.

I am glad it is finally being discussed.

Canadians for Language Fairness are very pleased to announce that our annual Christmas luncheon was an overwhelming success!

Guests had the pleasure of meeting and greeting all of our speakers, including Sun News host of THE ARENA, Michael Coren, who autographed copies of his best-selling book “Why Catholics Have it Right” and who talked about a variety of topics, from Islam to Human Rights Commissions. Being from the Toronto area, Michael was quickly educated on language issues in Eastern Ontario and is ready to be convinced that it is a much larger concern than he was aware of.

CFRA’s Sunnyside Nick Vandergragdt had us in stitches with his tall tales, and encouraged Canadians to participate more and be more involved in fighting for our Rights and Freedoms. He also gloated about the “Lunch Bunch” session when he had Mauril Belanger, Liberal MP in the corner, forcing him to admit it was the British that signed the BRITISH North American (BNA) Act, not the French.

Jean-Serge Brisson finished off the afternoon talking about the Russell Township Bilingual Sign bylaw challenge that is heading to Appeal Court in Toronto on February 1, 2012. He pointed out that had France won the battle at the Plains of Abraham, Canada would have become part of the United States, like Louisiana did when the French signed the Louisiana Purchase.

An added bonus was that Michael Coren has invited Jurgen Volrath, representing the Human Rights Institute of Canada and who has been a long time language fairness advocate, to be on his show on Sun News.

Jurgen is doing the taping at noon tomorrow (December 13, 2011), so hopefully it will feature on tomorrow evening’s “THE ARENA” at 7 PM. He will be talking about the language issue in Eastern Ontario.

As was mentioned on Saturday at our luncheon, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. It is not “good enough” to get someone on a show talking about language.

The maximum air time allowed is eight minutes, so time is very restricted and there are so many language issues that must be exposed. We need to get invited back, and in order to accomplish that, CLF supporters MUST find the time to email, write or call Sun Media and express your desire to hear more about language issues.

If there is little response, the chances of a second invitation are slimmer. We have been given a venue by the Sun News network so let’s take the opportunity to show that there is an interest in the issue. If we want to be heard, now is the time to take action so we are heard. The time is ripe. Please do your part for Freedom of Speech.
