Beat Back Barack
American Thinker ^ | 12-6-11 | William L. Gensert

There has been much talk lately about the need for the Republican presidential nominee to move to the center. This is a mistake. The only way to beat Barack Obama is to oppose him rigorously, relentlessly, and without remorse.

This election needs a fiscal, foreign policy, and economic conservative. The man to defeat Obama must present the nation a clear choice between further socialism under Obama's control or prosperity through economic freedom, but that's not all; he will need to show the world who Barack Obama is.

Americans may be inattentive, or even self-involved, but we are not idiots. Anyone can see the almost three years of failed Obama governance and know that the meme which the legacy media is trying to sell is a lie. Obama is not just a failure; he is a spectacular failure -- and it's not George Bush's fault, or that of an obstructionist Congress.

A tough fight ahead considering the Obama Administration will be using the "full faith and credit" of the US Treasury buy votes, and every newspaper, radio and tv station will be attacking the Republican nominee on an hourly basis.

I just hope that our candidate isn’t afraid to be mean to the Negro like the last time one was.

Real Americans got the message. It was proven in the 2010 midterms.

What happened to social conservatism?

The three legged stool is economic/fiscal conservatism, national defense/foreign policy conservatism, and social/cultural conservatism. No need to repeat fiscal and economic conservatism as if they are two separate things. I don't want to see anyone calling truces ala Mitch Daniels on any of the issues.

Real Americans got the message

Regrettably, real Americans are down to a slim majority in the USA now.

GOP needs to adapt and change. We just can’t be clinging to guns and opposing science.

Newt is leading the way for new GOP. Era of Reagan is over.

Ethanol subsidies are popular in IA so GOP needs to support them.

Amnesty is popular among liberal elite and we need cheap labor. GOP needs to push it. Besides, US needs more workers. We should pass amnesty and legalize all illegals immediately. Details can be fixed later, but the idea of legalization of illegals must be core platform and starting position. Newt is correct here.

GOP needs to accept Global Warming too. It is science. It is trendy. Newt has correctly led the way for new GOP. Cap-and-trade is good too (in 2007, Newt said “I strongly support it”).

GOP must support current entitlement programs and must oppose that extremist Paul Ryan. We must stop those rightwingers and gun clingers.

GOP must also work together with honest, moderate democrats, like Al Sharpton, Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton. Again, Newt has led the way. This is not just talk.

GOP must also support gun control bills. We can get stuck to some 2ndAm nonsense.

GOP also needs to suppot Fairness Doctrine. One-sided media must be shut down. They can threaten incumbents and distribute falsehood. Newt was right supporting this.

Go Newt!

We need to convince ourselves and each other that Newt is a conservative after all.

ODE TO THE WELFARE STATE

Father must I go to work?
No my lucky son.
We’re living now on easy street
With dough from Washington.

We’ve left it up to Uncle Sam
So don’t get exercised
Nobody’s got to give a damn
We’ve all been subsidized

But if Same treats us all so
and feeds us milk and honey
Please Daddy tell me what the hell
He’s going to use for money

Don’t worry bub there’s not a hitch
In this here noble plan-
He simply soaks the filthy rich
And helps the common man

But, father, won’t there come a time
When they run out of cash
and we have left them not a dime
When things will go to smash?

My faith in you is sinking, son,
You nosy little brat;
You do too damned much thinking, son
To be a Democrat.
