A Gastonia mother says her son was suspended for calling a teacher cute.
Chiquita Lockett said her 9-year-old son, Emanyea, spent the last two days at home.
Lockett said the principal of Brookside Elementary called her Wednesday to say the incident was a form of sexual harassment.
Emanyea told Eyewitness News a substitute teacher overheard him tell another student a teacher was cute.
Then he was suspended.
Its not like he went up to the woman and tried to grab her or touch her in a sexual way, Lockett said. So why would he be suspended for two days?
A district spokeswoman said she could not go into detail, but said Emanyea was suspended for inappropriate behavior after making inappropriate statements.
The districts Code of Conduct doesnt list inappropriate behavior, but says disruption of school is punishable by five days of out-of-school suspension.
So if the kid had said that the teacher looked like she came in second in a dogfight, that would have been better?
The world has become strange, twisted and devoid of common sense. :-(
This thread is worthless with out pics!
(Sorry I just had to)
Little Tommy came up with his word for the spelling recital.
Tommy: “My word is urinate”.
Miss A: “Oh, well - okay and how do you spell it?”
Tommy: “U R I N A T E”
Miss A: “That’s right Tommy. Now, um, can you give the definition?”
Tommy: “Yes. Urinate. If you had tits you’d be a ten!”
Unbelievable. I suppose since I looked at my girlfriend's breasts during the heady days of the 7th grade, I should have gotten 20 years!
Right?
Problem is, the teacher took it seriously because she was about to ask the 9 year old boy out on a date.
First Amendment protection not working? Try homeschooling!
(These people are educating children???)
I don’t see a 9 year old thinking an adult as ‘cute’ ... pretty maybe but not cute, that is reserved for Susie in the first row. We need to hear the schools side of the story.
Hard to navigate in a society where the normal folks have to be wary of the emotional cripples because the cripples always win. Sort of like manning NFL teams with Special Olympians (Disclaimer - I have worked with Special Olympics kids and mean no disparagement).
This story could very well be true, but I know a lot of parents who are very good at leaving out parts of the story. This news article only gets information from them, but the school does say that it was also for his behavior after the comment.
Knowing 9 year old boys, he could easily have said it the cute part in a loud voice while making sexual gestures and disrupting the class. After a reprimand, had he continued to be disrespectful, most schools would give him a suspension.
My conjectures may not be true, but the point is that we don’t know. It may be political correctness overkill and it may be a parent who never thinks their kid does anything wrong.
why dont you people try adding to the discussion instead of copping out with “Try Home Schooling”?? I’d bet big bucks(if i had em) that half of you, dont even have kids, or do but dont home school!
Give it a rest...
How much time off for calling her the “B” word ???
Because we people keep hoping you people will wake the h-— up and get your kids out of godless socialist indoctrination camp.
Liberals have no common sense or humor.
And we allow them to teach our children.
