NASA’s Bushnell: BTW LENR Solves Global Climate and Energy
admin on December 2, 2011 — 9 Comments
The long-awaited details from Dennis Bushnell’s Sep 22, 2011 presentation have surfaced. They are still not on the official site (bottom of page) and I can’t find the original through Google, so I put a slight cautionary note here that the contents have yet to be verified. Believe it or not, these are just some of the points he makes. None of them will surprise many of you reading this but even so and coming from someone famed for sticking his neck out like Dennis Bushnell, I still have to say, Wow!
Over 2 decades with over 100 experiments worldwide indicate LENR is real, much greater than Chemical, Transmutations, Minimal radiation
The many Rossi demonstrations in 2011 suggest LENR may produce”useful” quantities of heat [up to 15KWs ?]. Watts-to-Kilowatts also produced in Piantelli and Patterson Experiments
Between Chemical and strong force Nuc Energy Densities with minimal radiation safety/ protection requirements/ issues, probably “inexpensive”
Direct and potentially massively/ truly “game-changing”
The Rossi device, possibly producing useful energy but wholly “Edisonian”, not “scalable” and not “Optimized”
Huge number of “knobs”/ approaches appear to”work”, issue is how good can it be? Requires experiments guided by theory and major “creative” efforts/ inputs along with CAREFUL Experiments, YEARS of effort required. Rossi is just the merest beginnings of the research/ engineering optimization required.
Superb light weight power/ energy sources for space probes/ instruments and hoppers/ rovers, far less expensive than solar and better than radiologics for beyond Mars where solar does not “work”
Reduced LEO (Low Earth Orbit) and in space propulsion weights/ costs
Solves EDL (Entry, Descent, and Landing) for large payloads to Mars via ingestion, heating and retro injection of atmospheric CO2
Potentially obviates order of 80% of the 1000 metric ton LEO (Low Earth Orbit) up-mass for Humans Mars which is in-space fuel, Propulsive mass from far outer region atmosphere or regolith
Source for energy beaming, energy to terraform Mars, Enables Active Space Radiation Protection
Overall, enables what we have never had – “Energy Rich” design space[s]
Fuel fraction becomes negligible, huge impacts upon vehicle gross weights, especially for SST’s which are some 55% fuel fraction
For the military– EMP on steroids, VTOL obviates air bases/ runways/ carrier decks, enables loitering combined sensor/ weapon devices [ instead of getting there in time ARE THERE, always]
In Short, LENR , depending upon the TBD performance, appears to be capable of Revolutionizing Aerospace across the board. No other single technology even comes close to the potential impacts of LENR upon Agency Missions.
Test/ determine the performance of the Rossi and Piantelli devices
Experimentally validate the weak interaction theories
The 2 decades of experiments and the weak interaction theories have removed the existential risk, what is remaining is to ENGINEER for improved performance. Also obviously all the safety issues, labs have blown up studying this arena
SO – Invent/ create optimized/ improved LENR “Devices”, testing “Rossi” is merely a small first step, do the systems and propulsive/other application R&D
BTW LENR [ also] solves Global Climate and Energy
We went directly from Chemical to strong force Nuc and in the process bought huge energetics improvements and radiation protection/ safety issues that precluded fission nuc application[s], We leapt over the weak interaction energetics landscape except for radiologics. It is time to back-track.

From the NASA website

http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/sensors/PhySen/research.htm

Tests conducted at NASA Glenn Research Center in 1989 and elsewhere consistently showed evidence of anomalous heat during gaseous loading and unloading deuterium into bulk palladium. At one time called “cold fusion,” now called “low-energy nuclear reactions” (LENR), such effects are now published in peer-reviewed journals and are gaining attention and mainstream respectability. The instrumentation expertise of NASA GRC is applied to improve the diagnostics for investigating the anomalous heat in LENR.
Relevant Presentation: + Download presentation given at a LENR Workshop at NASA GRC in 2011 [available soon].

Yes, there can be no doubt that LX has the 100 mpg carburator sitting on a shelf out in his garage.

BTW, LX, I have a 35 mpg fuel injector on my 14 year old Hyundai. Neighbor lady bought a brand new Hyundai Elantra and she found she has a 50 mpg fuel injector.

That's not even a terribly expensive car, nor is it technologically advanced ~ but the 100 mpg carburetor story is beginning to lose its cachet eh!

So much for your other comments ~ you're still in awe of Einstein and imagine NO ONE ELSE COULD POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND ANYTHING HE SAID!

Did you know that you can go to school and study this stuff ~ even ON THE JOB ~ just so your employer can take advantage of you and make you write rules and stuff that are scientifically and technologically CORRECT.

I'm sorry you didn't get that opportunity ~ you'd make much more sense.

Yeah, I work for the energy companies and I'm trying to suppress this technology like I did the 100 MPG carburetor." Try an honest job?

Please tell me you didn't believe that.

Speaking gibberish again? You might want to only post when your meds are working, not after they've been metabolized out of your body.

Your car has one fuel injector, what is it, throttle body? Come back when you have gained even the most rudimentary knowledge of how a car works. I was working in a garage in Jr. high and worked my way through college in a shop so cars are probably a place you don't want to expend your gibberish to me.

So much for your other comments ~ you're still in awe of Einstein and imagine NO ONE ELSE COULD POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND ANYTHING HE SAID!

Go sell crazy somewhere else, were all full here (Jack Nicholson). So, the astronomers that proved his special relativity paper from 1905 didn't understand him? Just because YOU don't understand him doesn't mean that others don't. I'm not saying I understand him, I'm not a physicist but I've read the SR paper and it's not hard to read and understand until you get to the math and then hold on, maybe I shouldn't have missed that day in Calculus!

Give me a break, you worked in the USPS while I've been keeping data centers running for twenty years. You complain about how the USPS works but you didn't have the guts to try and work somewhere else did you?

So, you had one day's worth of experience tuning a carburator ~ 100 times.

The point was your story about the fictitious 100 MPG carburator is getting hoary with age ~ in fact, it's doggone near WRONG and MEANINGLESS.

We will, eventually, have systems that give us 100 MPG whether you like it or not.

My suggestion was that you UPDATE YOUR STORY!

Otherwise, the rest of your post was simply BS. You're like the guy who stands in line all day for stamps at the post office only to find that someone closed that counter line years ago.

You holler, "I see you people hiding back there behind those boxes and stuff. Come out here and serve me".

No, doesn't work that way.

Andrea Rossi's Miami Beach address as registered with the Florida Secretary of State for his "Leonardo Corporation". This is a 5th floor apartment that he claims is his business address for building his products. So, Rossi is claiming to be building nuclear fusion devices in an apartment! lol!

You posting habits demonstrate everything I have said.

You constantly lie about Rossis activities including to have claimed cold fusion “is already here” and including that you will post a bold faced lie that someone verified Rossi’s machine when all they have said is that it would be great if he did have one. You post their titles, inaccurately at best in many cases, and what goverment or civilian agency they are from and claim they have verified Rossi’s claims when they have not. You then claim previous postings to that affect when in fact they wasn’t the case.

Are you insane? I was joking about the 100mpg carburetor; that's a story that has been going around for fifty years, are you that dense? Are you a member of Densa?

I've probably rebuilt close to 100 though.

Everything else I said in that post is real.

Does it make you jealous when people are experts in more than one field instead of say, mail sorting for forty years?

You are the biggest B.S artist on this board but the sad part is that you don't realize it.

You sat in your comfy, knowing you can never be laid off federal job, probably whining every day but you didn't have the guts or the skills or both to go somewhere else.

You are about the most ignorant poster we've ever had on FR.

We know you weren't joking about the carburetor ~ you were using it as a factotem to the idea that people keep industrial secrets.

Actually, people do keep industrial secrets ~ but everyone knows the 100 MPG carburetor isn't one of them ~ but your continued use of that story is close to being obviated by progress.

You probably ought to use something more up to date like the non-leak fountain pen.

So solly ~ I was, in fact, a math major for several years.

There's no problem at all understanding the math part ~ it's the BS from the non-math majors that's the difficulty in any of this.

The 100MPG carburetor which I've mentioned before.

100MPG carb

You, of all people calling someone ignorant, the irony is awesome.

In your current unstable state, I find it amusing that you know what I meant not what I wrote. And who is 'we', do you have multiple personalities?

As for 100MPG carbs being real, do you know what stoichiometric means and don't cheat and look it up because I know you don't know what it means?

Do you know the ideal stoichiometric ratio for a car? It's 14.7 to 1, which means no matter what carb you have, you can't get over that barrier. Others have tried, I've got a copy of Browns alcohol motor fuel cookbook and his reasoning is that instead of a loose mixture of fuel and air, a vapor's ideal stoichiometric ratio is 50 to 1. The problem is people have been converting their cars to run on propane vapor and they don't get an almost four fold improvement in mileage. Of course, this is going over your head but I've given you another scienc-y sounding word so you can continue to spout your gibberish, you're welcome.

People have also been building carbs where they try to heat the fuel to a vapor stage and burn that. The problem is that gasoline comes in fractions(you'll need to look that up), each with a different evaporation temp and the underlying theory is bogus anyways and look, I've given you another scienc-y sounding word.

I know that is you current state that you believe the 100MPG carb is real but is hidden by evil corporations but I hate to tell you, you be wrong.

Sure, was this before you were an astronaut or a nuclear physicist and which of your personalities was taking math?

Would you learn how the refresh works so you don't post a hundred of the same thing. Wait a second, I bet you invented the refresh button before your career as a truck driver.

Yeah, that's the ticket:

Gawd, you don’t even understand how fuel injection works! “I have a 35 mpg fuel injector?” LOL

Hilarious that in the next breath, you complain about inaccurate technical writing. You are a complete joke.
