Praise from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin could be just what Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum needs. And he got some of that Thursday night.
Palin lavished praise on Santorum during a televised interview, suggesting conservatives should give him a second look for being a consistent conservative.
The former Pennsylvania senator has campaigned hard in Iowa and New Hampshire, but has not gained much traction.

He was senator and knows all policy issues. He won't embarrass.
Last chance for conservatives to stop NewtRomney?
L-rd help us ! Save us from the coming End Times. One twit endorses another twit.

VP, maybe.
Maybe.
An executive leader he isn’t.
JMO.
I like Santorum, but I worry about electability. I’ve said before that he’d make a great president, but I fear without a mass-casualty terrorist attack (may God forbid it) which would make his speeches during his last Senatorial campaign and just after sound positively Churchillian, he’s not electable. I’ll revise that. Another God-forbid event could make him electable: an Iranian nuclear test.
Of course, one might wonder. Is Gov. Palin actually angling for a brokered convention with most of the delegates pledged to a non-Romney? Hmmm. . . .
Yes, Santorum was an excellent, reliable conservative as a Senator, until he was stabbed in the back by Rove and Bush. After that, he went off the rails a bit.
But I can guess what Sarah is thinking. He is just about the last possible conservative candidate left standing, at this point. Perry is a RINO. Gingrich is a fraud. Bachman doesn’t seem to be ready for this level yet, as I expected, and she has neglected her real job, for which she was just elected, to lead the conservative element in the House—which has been pretty much invisible under Boner’s lead.
I really don’t know if Santorum is up to it. But the choices are being whittled down severely.
Cain and Santorum were my two picks in the beginning with full support going to Cain a few months ago.
I believe Cain is innocent of the trumped up charges from the media and the accusers but Im severely disappointed in the way he handled his defense.
The article is misleading. If you watched her on Hannity last night she complimentented all the candidates on certain areas. She even complimented Ron Paul’s fiscal policy although she disagreed on his foreign policy. Thank god.
He’s my acceptable alternative to Cain or Bachmann.
I keep hoping that Cain will pull through, but he is really messing things up with the claims of innocence and no more skeletons. Once he realized he had a target, his campaign and him needed to go through his life with a fine tooth comb and release a long and detailed list of skeletons or at least have prepared statements and strategy for each.
The reactionary tactics are killing him. He really has one hope left...get the story out, clear everything up, and do A Clinton style sit down with him and his wife with an “Oprah” level media person and lay out the realities of their lives and that they both love and accept each other blah blah blah...
A lot of conservatives in Pennsylvania can't forgive him for his endorsement of Arlen Specter in the 2004 primary. I can, especially considering that Arlen was the man most responsible for getting Judge Clarence Thomas confirmed.
My hesitancy is based solely on electability. Santorum not only got beat by the absolutely dumbest male to ever occupy a U.S. Senate seat in 2004, he didn't even crack 40%. The last time a presidential candidate won an election and lost their home state was James Knox Polk in 1844. You can look it up.
A while ago Palin said the person has to have executive experience.
Now they don’t?
There might actually be some genius to this plan.
If present trends continue, Newt Gingrich will have the nomination sewn up by Super Tuesday. I'm not so sure he isn't just another version of Juan McCain, albeit with far better debating skills.
One thing going for Santorum with me is that at least he’s one of the only candidates whom I believe I could vote for without the urge to immediately vomit all over the polling-room floor. But he does have an awfully off-putting manner, and I just can’t see him getting any traction. I’m more inclined to just stay with my notion of just “writing-in” Palin’s name.
No thanks. Santorum lost his home state of PA by 18 points last time around. That kind of trouncing tells me he has serious electability issues. Rick should go back and win something else before running for President again - he needs a way to wipe the stink of that defeat away.
I decided not to hold my nose this year. I’ve been a fan of Santorum for years. I’ve been donating for months. I proudly have a Santorum 2012 bumper sticker on my car. Even if my support only keeps his message alive for a little longer, I consider it money well spent. He speaks for many of us who have precious little representation in DC these days. No holding my nose this time. No regrets.
“A while ago Palin said the person has to have executive experience.”
Yes they should. They should also be conservatives. At some point, you have to relax on some requirements. Newt has been on the wrong side of 4 of the 4 main conservative positions in the last 2 years (amnesty, global warming, individual mandate, Ryan’s plan). Newt does not have executive experience either. Of the available choices, Santorum is the most acceptable (if you believe in conservative values).
Santorum lacks executive experience, but Obama can hardly use that argument against him.

Santorum has ZERO chance at a nomination, its time to stop the desperation and face reality.
There is and was no viable majorly conservative candidate in the 2012 class, never was. Its time to stop jumping on Nutjobs (Bachmann) Second Stringers (Perry) and not even Bench Warmers (Cain).
Its time to make your decision, stay at home (Obama would love that as that is how he won last time) or pick a side between Romney and Newt. Neither are what I would prefer in its entirety, but of the two Newt to me wins this contest hands down. Do I agree with everything he’s ever said and done? Nope.. but hes damned sure better than Romney IMHO.
There are no other viable candidates in this field, and never were, others were given more than ample opportunity to show they shouldn’t have been dismissed and were viable and they all failed miserably.
It is time folks need to start coming together, and remember OBAMA is who this election is about, and focus on getting him out of the White House.
That's not exactly the real story. The real story is that Bob Casey was heir to a huge political machine in PA since he is son of a very popular PA governor, Bob Casey Sr.
That is the reason Santorum lost; that and Casey's willingness to say he is pro-life, pro-America, etc.
I’m trying and failing to figure out why Sarah Palin would endorse anybody but the selected nominee of the Republican Party. If she endorses Santorum and he loses as expected what good does that do Santorum or Palin? Santorum still won’t win and the Palin brand will have a small but permanent stain.
What if she endorses Romney? Yikes. Not going to happen. Bad deal for Palin. Alienates 99% of the Palin in 2012 crowd.
What if she endorse Newt? Could happen but only IMHO if and when Newt looks like a sure winner of the nomination.
Bottom line: Don’t look for a Palin endorsement for anybody very soon. Maybe by about February or March.
