"“Let's go back to square one.” STOP right there. I don't know where this article is going , yet, but that statement is a big red flag. "

That is the HEART of the problem- How do you suddenly start to enforce laws that have been ignored for 40 years. Not only ignored, but encouraged to break- by 'sanctuary cities'

Throw him out tomorrow? Take his house? YES ABSOLUTELY. HE BROKE THE LAW, DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT? Why are you working so hard to excuse these people? I suspect you own a business that exploits illegal, third world labor.

These people who come here illegally sneak across our border in the middle of the night and do everything they can not to get caught.

They know that they’re breaking our laws.

Rather naive thinking if you ask me. Once you confer any status of legality, ANY status of legality, you open the door automatically (via our court systems) to citizenship lawsuits - AND THEY WILL COME, and the votes will come thereafter.

No one is suggesting round them up all at once. Make it illegal, with harsh punishment, to hire them, provide them resources, or allow them any public resources save those immediately needed to save their lives.

Their property? Ha! Where are the damned taxes I’ve had to pay to help support these users? Where?

If you get them ‘on the books’, you get them, lock, stock and barrel - including their subsistence, because that’s were most of them are now.

To me any ILLEGAL immigration into any country or state is akin to a Strangler Fig settling on a healthy tree.
No one notices until the Parasite overpowers the healthy tree and then continues to spread destruction to the surrounding landscape.
It is in the best interest to the healthy tree that if one really cares for it they make sure any seed that invades that tree removes the seedling prior to it’s establishment and growth!

A man came here illegally 40 years ago...there are millions of people like this.

Bull. The "Regan Amnesty" was 26 years ago. If "millions" didn't take advantage of the amnesty 26 years ago, then it just proves that they have NO interest in America other than as a "sugar daddy".

They also know the Dems have had their back. The Dems have known they were breaking our laws as well, yet have tried to facilitate those illegal actions.

Put your emotions aside & ask yourself this, if you lived in absolute squalor w/ absolutely no future in sight, & you knew there were political leaders that were encouraging you to come to the greatest country on earth, & they would give you opportunity that you would never have back home, would you do it for your family? Honestly, I think I might.

Now, if the laws were uniform & consistently enforced across the board, it might be another matter. But that’s FAR from the case here isn’t it?

When you detach yourself from the theoretical, & concentrate on reality & putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, things can look a little different........take on a different perspective. Just a little to think about.

I want the border sealed and under our control. Period. I don’t really care what we do with the people who are here at the end of the day. We can round them all up and expel them, we can give them a path to citizenship. We can pick and choose which ones will remain based on some objective standards and expel the rest, etc etc. The key for me is that we can’t really deal with the problem of illegal immigrants, unless/until we have control of the border. We all know the “comprehensive immigration reform” proposals of the Bushies and the Democrats are complete BS. We’ve seen the results of those plans. The hardline of most conservatives I know, is that we want actual physical control of the border before we’re willing to consider any changes to our present immigration rules. I don’t have any real interest in expelling every single illegal immigrant. I’m more concerned about the security and sovereignty issues of having a wide open border than any of the other concerns.

Haven’t you ever heard of E-Verify? Make it very difficult for them to work or get welfare benefits and many if not most will start to drift away. We have to make it easy for ourselves. We have been carrying these illegals on our backs like a sack of rocks. We owe them nothing. What is best for us is to clear out as many as possible by making it difficult for them to make money, then if there are some complicated situations such as people who were brought here as very young children and are now adults, we can look at giving them some option to stay. But first we have to see how many we can get out of the country through attrition, not through rounding people up and escorting them out of here.

Millions of illegals cause serious problems for us down the line. They will form a very large voting block that will vote against our interests and our children’s interests. When they start voting, they will vote for one thing—more immigration for their families. Who will oppose them? We keep hearing that Republicans can’t afford to offend the Hispanics because they are the fastest growing group. Well, they are the fastest growing group because millions can just waltz into our country any time they want. Illegal immigration is a demographic time bomb. We have to do what we can to get as many of them out of here because their very numbers are a threat to our national unity and a two party system. Why do you think that the Democrats created sanctuary cities all over the country? Because these are protected hatcheries for illegals who, the Dems hope will become voters who will vote for them. If these 12 to 20 or 30 million illegals are allowed to stay, we will become a one-party nation with the Democratic party having a political monopoly.

Newt has been in politics for twenty years, he should have worked out a more detailed plan. We need details.

Given that I believe in obeying the law, I would not willingly and brazenly break another country’s laws.

This is not about emotions, so there is nothing for me to put aside.

This is about the future of this country and whether we will enforce the laws on the books or not.
