John Galt is the main character in Ayn Rand’s novel “Atlas Shrugged” (or was it “Fountainhead”)

He is a business owner who packs it all in and stops working after all the excessive taxes and regulation, and being made out to be the bad guy after he employed many.

So he says the heck with it all and shuts down

(I hope I characterized it well enough- its been 20 years since I read it)

Um, if I might, on Astronaut’s behalf: “Who is John Galt” is a quote from the book / movie. I don’t think Astronaut was asking the question, he was quoting the most repeated line.

You got it right. But I knew the answer.”Who is John Galt” is a recurring catchphrase in the book.

We need a real life John Galt.
