My long-time friend Giuliana called me from San Diego on Sunday. She mentioned that a friend of her Navy SEAL husband stationed at Coronado Island had tickets to a very special NCAA basketball game that was played on the Aircraft Carrier USS Carl Vinson out in San Diego on Veterans Day. You may recall that it was the USS Carl Vinson that handled the disposal at sea of Osama Bin-Ladens body recently.
She was told that because the tickets were for special VIP seats, she would be subjected to an intensive background check. Why a background check for an NCAA basketball game? Because her seat would place her adjacent to President Barack Obama and the First Lady, who attended the game as part of their Veterans Day Lets spend more taxpayer money on an unnecessary trip to San Diego program.
The President wound up getting an earful from Giuliana, who is not one to shy away from speaking her mind. It wasnt long before she made it clear to the President that she was proud to vote for him in 2008 (being part of history in electing our first African American President. And yes, I do have many Liberal friends). God, I hate having to look like I’m defending Obama, but this has nothing to do with him. It’s Presidential Protocol. Obama couldn’t stop security from doing what they do anymore than Clinton wasn’t allowed to run anymore.
As for the NCAA Game on the Navy ship, I thought that was pretty cool. If we weren’t pulling out so quickly, I’d suggest playing a game in Iraq or Afghanistan, though the NCAA would probably decline due to security fears for the athletes. Maybe the NBA could do that if they ever decide they want to start playing basketball again.

Wish she’d said”
I’ve watched YOUR PERFORMANCE, YOUR ACTIONS are my “SOURCE” of disappointment!!
I think he’s doing exactly what he said he’d do. Why the surprise? And if she voted for him in 2008, that shows she didn’t pay very good attention.
Reassured, I hung up. But one question still remains: Should I offer coffee and donuts to the guys in the Black SUV parked across the street?
Yes. It will unnerve them
I don’t think she was objecting to the background check.
Dear Ms. Giuliana,
Strongly suggest you stay far away from Ft Marcy.
I voted for you because you were black! Ouch
Yep—I do all I can to encourage all hands to go online and grab a free blog and get blogging daily—it’s the way to get the b@stvrds to hear you at all!
Letters, phone calls, demonstrations, etc. are all well and good, but blogs, unlike email and word-of-mouth don’t go away, and it gets to them.
Bloggers, small and large, are the new pamphleteers.
