Very important, you MUST check the light bulb box for “Lumens”, a measure of brightness, because not all light bulbs are equal. The minimum number of lumens for a 100W bulb should be at least 1500, but some are being sold with as little as 800.

And 800 lumens is about as bright as a normal 60W light bulb. Most of the major manufacturers are already switching over, so do not wait, and do not hesitate, to lay in your store of 100W bulbs ASAP.

I bought some CFL floodlights for a fixture that is on for hours every night.

It takes forever for them to get to decent output. And they don’t have the output of the bulbs they are supposed to replace. I hate them.

I use CFLs but find myself drifting back to the old incandescent. The slow output and supposed long life of CFLs have been a big disappointment.
In my experience the candelabra, globe style CFLs last no longer than an incandescent, maybe less.

As far a LEDs. Way too expensive and no energy savings over the CFLs.
Plus the diode may last for 10,000 hrs. or more but there is a lot of electronics in those bulbs that could fail.
I’ll wait for a while.

I have a lot of three way lamps. Use the 50-100-150 or 50-200-250 bulbs.

Will these still be sold? I’d hate to see the death of my three way lamps because of this.

Also question for the Utah art gallery owner, do your very expensive LED’s actually cast warm light? Every LED I’ve seen is very cold and will not pull out colors in items.
