I predict the day after Huntsman ends his campaign, he calls a press conference to announce he is becoming a Democrat. He will instantly become the press darling McCain wanted to be, and you won’t be able to turn off the TV up till election day without seeing him bashing the Republican party for ‘cowtowing to the Tea Party.’
Perry seems to have stabilized. It may end up being Pery and Gingrich fighting for the Not Romney slot.
Cain seems to be fading.
The others need to go.
Perry did answer smoothly, but he didn’t answer the questions. And why did he continually address his answers to Romney?
But his daughters will have been launched just like McCain's daughter. It was good to hear Huntsman's sons are serving in the U.S. Navy.
CAin has no depth. He is clearly winging it, and probably suprised more than anyone that he’s come this far.
Many of here on FR like the man, but please let’s get real. He’s be good in any admin, maybe the VP. But he is not the best out there.
Romney did quite well again. He has considerable energy, whereas Newt comes across at times as a good laxative. I mean he more the statesman than an energetic leader.
Right now a great ticket would be Romney/Gingrich IMHO
I will for sure be getting the onslaught from the Romney haters in T minus ten minutes....
If libertarian positions are Democratic ones, is Ron Paul going to change parties along with Jon ? Or maybe he already is, which must explain why that is where most contributions from US troops have gone, lol Seriously. Do either have ANYTHING in common with Obama ? That is just so much bunk...
What I don’t get is why any serious candidate isn’t up to snuff on foreign affairs. It isn’t like they’ve got a day job and don’t have time to study.
Very good analysis. Good because it is accurate, especially regarding Huntsman.
Romney on the other hand, is not going to be so easy. Not only does he have a very large bank roll, he probably gave his best debate performance of his career last night. Perhaps it was because Newt was on his AAA game and Romney stepped up to match it.
I believe that the coming week will show both Newt and Romney to take a bigger lead and perhaps Perry will move into a strong third. Cain is definitely on the way out. He was clearly outclassed, outgunned and suffers from Political Vertigo. On top of all that, he still has Gloria All-Red waiting for him to actually face his accusers and not deny what is already on the record.
Simply put and very true; The others need to go.......(Keep repeating as often as necessary.)
IMO Cain did just fine last nite and Gengrich made progress. Perry’s only good point was zero-based foreign aid - which I expect fits well with Cain’s business experience and will be adopted. Other than that, Perry’s a blustering autobot as opposed to Romney who’s an establishment autobot. The others are not in the running for any number of good reasons.
The sponsor, format, and topic were matched well - all second rate. The diplomatic nuances of foreign affairs is so inconsequencial to America’s current challenges, to me, elegant mastery of this arena is akin to winning a blue ribbon in mental masturbation.
My preference remains Cain/Gingrich ‘12.
