I went to the Veterans Day Parade in downtown Houston today. A woman walked up to me and asked if I was a veteran. I told her I was and she handed me an envelope and said “Thank you for you service” and went on her way. Inside was a thank you note with the following words written by hand.

Dear Hero,

I’ve often wondered how to show my sincere gratitude and appreciation for one has sacrificed so
much, one who has given so much, so I can be free. Thank you for your service and all you
have given so I, my children and future generations will be free. May God bless you and
keep you always.

With love and prayer,

Rececca Richards

This lady was sincere!

There were Occupy Houston protestors one block away from the parade route. My wife said “Everyone of those people should be walking around thanking veterans for their right to protest.

Finally, there was an ARVN soldier in his old uniform watching the parade. Everytime the American flag passed he came to attention and saluted. Wow!
