The Racially Tinged Assault on Herman Cain
ResCon1 ^ | 3 Nov 2011 | John Guardiano

I was, I think, the first conservative to charge that Politico and the media were engaged in a “high-tech lynching” of Herman Cain.

Since that time (Sunday night), several influential conservative bloggers and writers have demurred. Race, they insist, has nothing to do with this story; and conservatives should stop “playing the race card.”

“Cain would have us believe his critics are racists,” declares Jennifer Rubin. And that “really sickens me,” emotes Quin Hillyer.

“If harassment was the sort of blanket smear of black conservatives that [Ann] Coulter [and others] suggest it is, you’d expect them, [other black conservatives], to have been smeared, too, by now,” adds Allah Pundit.

Are Rubin, Hillyer, Allah Pundit and other like-minded cons really this obtuse and this clueless? Do they really think that race has nothing to do with this story? Really? Where have they been for the past 25 years?

You simply don’t play the race card at any level when running for office. Simple.

Cain had birth certificate and no National Enquirer...only
the usual unnamed sources....the real racists can’t stand
the possibility of a black, Republican President. JK

But let it come from another source than the candidates...no race cards should be pulled.

Absolutely! Hannity played a long selection of various attacks on Cain by the liberal media types. I was reminded of the attacks on Justice Thomas. And do you remember all those evil cartoons of Condi showing her with big lips and all the usual racial stereotypes.

Race has EVERYTHING to do with the story.

Blacks are not supposed to be smart, witty, fiscally savvy and committed to patriotic defense of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. And most of all, they are not supposed to be Republican.

Herman Cain does not fit the template, and this carries a HUGE threat to the Democrat plantation that has held the greater part of the Americans of African origin in thrall since the days of LBJ’s Great Society. In one of the great hijacks of political history, the belief that American blacks only gained their civil rights because of the efforts of the Democrat majorities in both the House and Senate when the 1964 Civil Rights act was passed, one important fact is overlooked. Passage was because there were MORE Republicans voting FOR the act, than there were negative votes from the Democrat side of the aisle. Left up to the Democrats alone, they would have voted down the 1964 act, as they had so many times before back during the New Deal and for decades prior to that.

But history books have failed to make note of that achievement, because either the historians had an agenda, or nobody ever goes look at the record.

Accuse a black man of sexual harrassment after the liberals’ black spokespeople called him an “Uncle Tom”, and it’s not racist.

Ask somebody where they were born and that’s racist.

Bottom line is obama worshippers can’t accuse people of being racists if there are two black men in the race.

This means, consequently, that they are far more zealous about examining the alleged misdeeds of black conservatives (i.e, Clarence Thomas and Herman Cain and Mark Sanford and David Vitter and so on) than they are the real-world wrongdoing of white liberals (i.e, John Edwards and Bill Clinton and Bill Jefferson and Kwame Kilpatrick and so on).

This is so lame. If Gingrich had Cain’s poll numbers and Politico got wind of his being the cause for two sexual harassment settlements they’d have pounced just as well.

Clarence Thomas? Yes, that was race based. But this? This is what was out there, not something that Politico specifically targeted because of Cain’s race.

The race card is no more becoming on our side than it is when flashed by the other team.

You are playing right into obamas race bait trap Tzar. Do not make race an issue whatsoever...Cain needs to NOT Play any race card period...and it matters not what the Democrates like, want, or desire....do not go there on the race issue.

CAin needs to remain focused on the issues..get off the scandal and certainly not add to that a racial bite....if he proceeds in that manner he’s done, plain and simple...the American people want a leader...he needs to at least act the role before he gets there.

I think you are naive. In the 1980s-90s, I worked for one of the most liberal think tanks in the country (it's what turned me conservative). Highly politicized libs think VERY little of most blacks - rich, poor, Democrat or Republican. They thought of them as stupid but good athletes - and dancers! as I heard one big lib (my boss) say. While I never heard them say the old trope about black men being sexually rapacious, I'm sure they thought it.
