Politico wont say if a rival campaign fed them the story about sexual harassment allegations made against current Republican presidential front-runner Herman Cain in the 1990s.
CNNs Wolf Blitzer on Monday pressed reporter Ken Vogel of Politico on whether the publication relied on opposition research from one of Cains rivals.
Politics are politics as you said, and certainly there are people that are digging up opposition research, Vogel said. Im just not going to do anything that would identify that would point to the identity of our original source.
We dont think that the original source is as important as the actual information, Vogel said.
The reporter said Politico got a tip and it was from someone outside. We managed to corroborate all the details and more. We have to be clear here that this tip was sort of a general tip.

I don’t know and really don’t care. I left the /s tag off because Freepers have been in a tizzy over this all day.
I didn’t want Newt to be left out of the conspiracy theories that have been prevalent on the site today.
Regardless of who tipped off Politico, they have achieved the desired effect. They have turned the news cycle from Cain’s economic plan to his having to defend an alleged sexual discrimination charge from the mid 90’s. A time, when sexual discrimination complaints were filed ad nauseum.
The measure of the man is in his consistency. Cain, for me, has been consistent in his message and core beliefs for as long as I’ve been able to document. That is what is important to me.
There is an old adage in law that anyone can sue and a good prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich. The proof in the pudding is if there was any fire under this smoke, the women wouldn’t have settled for only 5 figures.
I think someone filed the complaint, lost, and the Association didn’t want the person around any longer. The only way to get rid of them was to offer them a severance package.
I wonder who the “victim” who worked in the PAC office of the NRA is backing this election cycle?
Do you feel you are someone else's superior?
Something to think about....
Danielle Brody Rosengarten and Kenneth Paul Vogel were married
The bride, 31, is a counsel and legislative assistant in Washington for Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, she advises him on climate change legislation.
Her mother is a lawyer in charge of the White Plains federal defenders office for the United States District Court, Southern District of New York.
The bridegroom, 34, is a senior staff writer in Arlington, Va., for Politico, the political news Web site and newspaper, for which he covers campaign finance and the conservative movement.
The couple met in May 2006, when Ms. Rosengarten began a summer law clerkship in Washington with the House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security. Mr. Vogel was finishing a 10-month journalism fellowship through the American Political Science Association, during which he, too, worked for the committee staff. They sat in adjoining cubicles in the Ford House Office Building.

Sexual discrimination + sexual harassment
wanna bet it came from rove, the bushes, or romney?
Damn....I’ll get this right yet....sexual discrimination = sexual harassment.
Politico has got a bad poker face.
BTTT
I don’t think so. I am a Romney supporter. However, in lew of the attacks on Cain, I have decided tonight to get on his website, give donations, and support him as my choice for the primary.
I am for 9-9-9 and for Cain. Why? Because I hate and am sick of the liberal pigs. That’s why.
I now support Cain. I will be on his website shortly to give my donation to his campaign.
Not only the tweet. Right on the heels of the Politico story, big time supporter Peggy Nance (CWA) comes out and demands Cain explain. ALSO through Politico. Joseph Allbaugh just joined Perry’s campaign 6 days ago, he was one of Rove’s Iron Triangle. Cain volunteers already had received two credible warnings of a smear campaign coming from the Perry camp recently.
Now, look whose supporters are defending these stories all day long. Not just here, but on Facebook, Twitter, comments on articles. It is coordinated. They even have the same talking points (one is, “Cainiacs are using the race card against anyone who disagrees”)
At this point, it probably doesn’t matter where it came from. I just hope that the true identities of these women will be revealed and we can get to the bottom of this ridiculus story. What are we talking about now, height harrassment?
” Damn....Ill get this right yet....sexual discrimination = sexual harassment “ = whatever the liberal mind makes up and imagines it to be.

No kidding...this is starting to get interesting now.
What an excellent idea. The mechanics of it would be a bear. But it could open up a whole new way to pizz off the establishment pubbies.
Are you saying that someone from Perry’s staff was on Twitter commenting on this matter days before it broke?
Perry is the person with the most to lose if he’s found to be responsible for this. It would be very, very bad for him.
I draw the opposite conclusion. They’d love to see a food fight between GOP candidates. If it were one of them, they’d be dying to say so.
Likely it’s not.

“
Yea, it was his chief for Arizona. Obviously that alone doesn’t prove his campaign leaked the stuff, but it does show that they knew about it before it became public...which is what I was commenting to.
