A few minutes ago on Fox News Shannon Bream was interviewing some lady in Iowa who was supposed to be a caucas expert. They were discussing the latest poll which shows Cain leading. When asked by Bream why Santorum, who has been to more counties than any other candidate and has met the most people, is almost in last place in the poll, the "expert" said, "people in Iowa are looking for a real social conservative". What? Santorum is the biggest social conservative in the race! She follows up by saying that other social conservatives are fighting it for the rest of the conservative votes. She goes on say that this plays right into the hands of Mitt Romney. In otherwords this rocket scientist in Iowa thinks Romney is the social conservative in the race! So Romney is the "social conservative" in the race and Santorum is the flip-flopping liberal. Some smart voters we have there in Iowa.
I firmly believe the Media will setup Romney as the best, and most right-wing approach to the GOP nominations. That way, either win or lose - we are still a socialist commie police state with no rights.
Has Rick Santorum been quoted saying anything disparaging about Iowa’s principal industry?
The ethanol scam?
He is a staunch supporter of Arlen Specter and an opponent of Pat Toomey.
In other words, he is a fraudster and no conservative.
What?
Santorum has never recovered from endorsing Specter
Merely BEING a social conservative is not enough, even in Iowa. One also has to be bearing a torch, and willing to touch fire to all the waiting hearts out there, the ones who WANT to believe, but hunger for that spark. Michele Bachmann ALMOST did it, for a short while, until the brand was snatched away by Rick Perry.
But Herman Cain looks like the real deal, the outsider, the renegade who boldly holds up the flame, and unashamedly calls the multitude forth. He only needs to say, “Follow me!” against that backdrop, and he captures the hearts and minds, the rest will proceed from there.
Sadly, Rick Santorum’s Zippo lighter failed at the critical moment, and he was left in near darkness.
I LIKE Rick Santorum, really I do, but at this point he as as much chance of capturing the nomination as I do.
Disagree on Santorom. He is against abortion of any type and he’s against homosexual marriage. He is the only GOP candidate that will attempt to get this message into a debate, even if it’s not being asked. He told that homosexual soldier exactly what he thought about DADT, and he could care less what static he gets from the liberal Repulicans. Why he supported Specter over Toomney is anybody’s guess, but to say Rick Santorum is not a social conservative makes no sense. Romney on the other hand is a flip-flopping liberal and always has been. No sane thinking social conservative could be for Romney. Impossible.
Until recently I was a huge fan of Rick Santorum. I thought he was one of the great Conservative heroes. I was wrong!!!!
He has gratuitously disparaged Governor Perry on and off the debate stage. Santorum made Perry’s support of in-state tuition for illegals into a “subsidy” for illegals, when in fact, there is no “subsidy”. An illegal seeking access to a Texas University must satisfy residency requirements and have made active application for citizenship. (Illegals are given access to Pennsylvania colleges and universities)
Most recently Santorum seemed compelled to make a comment on the Perry hunting camp when he could have either said nothing or pointed to the absurdity of the dredged-up, unsubstantiated story. Santorum violated Ronald Reagan’s 11th rule for Republicans which is not to disparage fellow Republicans.
Santorum’s patterns and themes suggest that he is either a “stalking horse” or just incredibly sanctimonious...maybe both!
Give the people of Iowa the benefit of the doubt wherein they have seen a difference between sanctimony and social conservatism.
Here’s Santorum’s reason for supporting Specter.

I have to ask, did Santorum actually think he had a viable chance to win the nomination?
I think not.
I think he entered hoping to be someone’s VP or to land himself a cabinet position. It’s really hard to imagine a losing US Senator of all political offices, besting the rest of the field, for the nomination.
Don’t get me wrong. I am no Santorum fan on anything but social issues.
To me he’s the biggest warmonger since Attila the Hun. Although he says he’s “pro-life” he sees nothing wrong with neverending war and political assassination, not exactly positions that principled Catholics take. Being pro life is more than being against the murder of unborn children.
And I don’t like the way he denegrated Perry for the instate tuition. He’s never been a governor and has no idea what Perry goes through trying to govern his state.
And there can be a HUGE disparity between the two.
Happy Reformation Sunday!
