There are just too many news cycle between now and the nominating convention. But while Cain's rise gives them something to talk about, so too must they indicate that they don't take it too seriously or that they haven't seen this pattern before. "Boomlet," then, with its implicit sense of inevitable decline, is the perfect word to acknowledge a rise in political fortunes while still spinning it with journalistic cynicism.

The 'Lamestream' media, the rino's, inside the beltway boys and political pundits of all stripes never saw Cain as a viable candidate. There has been a solid stream of reason coming from them since he announced as to why Cain couldn't be taken seriously, way Cain can win, and as those reasons grew thinner in substance they have been forced again and again to find more and different reasons as to why Cain can't win.
Why do they continue to derail Cain even as he defeats their arguments against him?
There are any number of reason, he is not a member of the insiders club for one, hes not a known career politician for another, but mostly these people just dont understand a man like Herman Cain. Not that that is entirely their fault, because men like Herman Cain are so rare these days, men of real integrity.
Its been at least 30 years since the Lamestream Media has had to deal with some of Cains stripe and they are completely out of their depths in trying to understand him.
Herman Cain who truly was until recently a virtual unknown had faith enough in himself to decide to run for President of the United States on his own. There was no Media hype/pressure/build-up about a possible run, there was no urging by members of the Party, no words spoken into his ear by party players, elites, beltway boys or pundits, not even a word of encouragement from the Republican Party of his home state only faith in himself.
And time and time again Herman Cain has shown just what kind of man he is. Is he without faults? Hardly no man is without his faults, but the measure of a man is how he faces his faults and Herman not only faces his faults, but admits to them, learns from them, teaches others from then and lastly he laughs at himself over them and it takes a man who is truly sure in himself to be able to laugh at their own mistakes.
Considering the great numbers of skeptics on this forum I am sure there will be a good number of FReepers who will find this post funny and stupid, but here goes: I think one of the reasons people support Herman and why so many skeptics cant see Cain for what he is can be summed up in the following lines from the 2003 movie 'Secondhand Lions'
Hub: "Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in."
In Herman Cain we see a good man, an honorable man, a man that has made his mark through his own effort and owes no one other than God and his Parents for his success. We see a man who did not seek money and power, but achieved them and a yet they clearly hold no sway over him.
Maybe we are foolish and gullible, maybe we have all seen Mr. Smith Goes to Washington one to many times and now think that Good really can triumph over evil. The skeptics, naysayers, elitist,'Lamestream media types dont believe in anything, but there are still some of us, many of us that choose to believe, because those are things worth believing in.
Well said! One little complaint. To = too.
I like Cain and could support him for the long run, but I’m afraid lack of funds will chase him out as the primary season turns into a long grind. I am particularly worried that if he gets out he will endorse Romney, and add to the inevitability.
Flame away if you must.
His biggest weakness is when he tries to go politically correct he screws up and then it makes him look bad.
He just needs to keep telling it like he sees it, but also say he’s willing to change his mind if someone can show him a better way forward.

Cain is currently bringing in a million per week
We all know how “lack of funds” can be reversed for Herman Cain. He has a website and a physical snail-mail address, and they welcome contributions from like-minded folks.
Most of the objections to Herman Cain are specious on scrutiny. You don’t like his “9-9-9” tax plan? Well, tell us why you like the one we NOW have. He doesn’t have foreign policy experience? Do we have anyone in power NOW who has valid foreign policy experience? He is too “ideological”? What about the doctrinaire types we have in the White House NOW? He does not have experience in elective office? Since when is THAT any mark of excellence?
And he does not need a teleprompter to get up and carry on a debate.
As Rush says, conservativism wins every time it is tried. A lesson that seems not to register with others who are considered “top-tier” candidates.
There a couple of people on the “B” team that have pretty credible conservative traits, but none has gained the popular attraction that Herman Cain has.
Here’s your flame: You need to keep up before you post.

I can't imagine it either. :)

Don't be afraid, stop worrying who he will support if he gets out, send Herman MONEY and keep him going.
Don't wait for the long run, is he doesn't win the short run, he doesn't get into the "LONG RUN".
I have seen numerous reports that Cain has been raising $1M/week since October 1. This is plenty of money to compete through the primaries if he maintains this pace.
I could’nt have said it any better! Keep up the good work!!

Perhaps the lack of these qualities amongst the MSM is why the MSM reviles Cain with such fervor?
Well, the one thing wrong with this analysis is that Cain has built his “boomlet” gradually. The other candidates surged to the top and plummeted just as fast. Cain started in the lower tier and as people got to know him better, they liked his ideas for the country. None of the others stayed on top like Cain has. Wishful thinking on this guy’s part.
Cindie
I read somewhere (Open Secrets maybe) that half of Cain’s Q2 and Q3 fundraising was $200 or less.
Love the graphic!
I was thinking about the similarities between Obama and Carter just today.
Under Carter, communism grew very rapidly. Under Obama, Islamic states who recognize Sharia Law are growing rapidly.
Coincidence? I think not...
