You’re going to need to see past the current situation and think about the wonderful future ability to shut down things like French carping about how we conduct wars in the future.
In the future, when the French start acting, well, *French* when we’re in some international op, we can point back at this administration and say “We’re not doing anything different than the President upon whom you conferred the Nobel Peace Prize when he was in office the first month. We’re merely following his example...”
and the Euro-weenies will have to STFU.
I view these sorts of developments with an eye to the long game. In the long game, they’re absolutely wonderful developments, because we will be able to so successfully shut down any bellyaching by European pecksniffs in the future when:
1. We enter a country with spec-ops troops, without declaring war, assault a private residence and shoot occupants inside in cold blood and leave without so much as a “hi” or “goodbye!”
2. Bomb other countries without declaring war or even registering a complaint in the UN. This includes zapping people we don’t like with missiles from the air.
3. We back a violent revolution (eg, like this one in Libya) that displaces someone who gets in the way of delivering oil.
4. We conservatives protest that a Republican POTUS didn’t do any of these things (because we might not need to) and yet, he wasn’t awarded the Peace Prize.
This episode of four years of “wise diplomacy” will yield guffaws and yuks for decades to come.
The Eco's want to turn the clock back, ok, lets go back to WW1 days of
dealing with this type of people. It worked then,
we can make it work even better now.
