O.K. so now you finally get to the truth, your friend does not want to hire a citizen for that job, she wants to keep the person she has had for 20-30 years even though he is illegal. That is a very different scenerio than what you began this conversation with.

I don’t know the ins and outs of citizenship in that case- but I do think he would have to go back to Mexico and stay there until the process was through- which is not what your friend or he would likely want. I know ranchers here in the same situation- sooner than 30 years though, believe me- they helped the illegal get a work permit so they could legally work here and then pursued citizenship at some point, or just kept up the permit. It can be done, and requires a good immigration attorney and some money. It may not seem fair, but the man and your friend have been breaking the laws for years so it shouldn’t be easy. It would have been cheaper, easier, and better all the way around if she had hired someone with a work permit all those years ago if she just had to have help from another country for whatever reason. Or at least helped this man get one back then. Yes it will take time, money, and effort on her part and his. If she isn’t willing to do it she needs to do the right thing and send the man down the road back to Mexico.

There was just no need for you to spout the open borders talking point of how your friend and others could not find “gringos” to do that work or live there or what have you. That is just nonsense and puts down our citizens that are very willing to do those things and in fact do them every day- like my family and friends- and me too in my younger days. Now I babysit the children and cook for everyone doing the cowboy stuff.

Before I end this conversation, I do want to say something I thought I knew but had to verify with my Mother’s friend. And I was right. She has the same pay scale for everyone. As I said, this was never about money. She does not pay some lesser amts. They are paid according to their duties, their experience and how long they have been with her. She would not ever take advantage of them.
Thank you again for the discussion though you obviously misunderstood most everything I said. Be well.

Just your words, such as lying and spouting etc, are not conducive to healthy debate. I know you know this. Why you felt the need to insult me time and time again, I do not know. It is unnecessary.
