In truth, there are lineups in Canada also. You might live in a border community, like I do, and work in the US. You need to renew your work visa occasionally. Also foreign nationals in Canada trying to get visas to visit the US.

But you are right, Canadians don't need visas to visit the US and I think immigration to the US is down.

One of my neighbors is a Canadian immigrant.

He tried living in Windsor and working west of Ann Arbor but it was more than an hour drive + crossing the border. Eventually he just moved here and got his citizenship.

You mean "Canadian Immigration" is down ~ not "immigration" in general. That's still up.

At any one moment there are enough folks filing for or thinking about filing for immigration into the US that if everybody here died we could have them replaced in a few months.

At the other end of the spectrum there are countries where if everyone died nobody would even notice.
