On September 7, 2011, you said that “[t]he notion that [Fast and Furious] reaches into the upper levels of the Justice Department is something that at this point I don't think is supported by the facts and I think once we examine it and once the facts are revealed we'll see that's not the case.” Unfortunately, the facts directly contradict this statement.

If you parse Holder's statement carefully, it's a very Clintonesque sentence. I admire the lawyer he had write it.

Notice that he does not say "the upper levels of the DOJ were not involved in Fast and Furious". He's effectively really saying "I don't think you will be able to find enough evidence, provable in court, that would convince a jury that Fast and Furious was directed by me and Obama".

Yeah, I took that statement as "Well, it looks like you don't yet have any incontrovertible evidence that I did anything criminal, but we can reevaluate that as time goes on, and I'll adjust my story to fit."
