A good half the country is mentally ill as well. That’s the problem.
You're exactly right. I know people who support obama, and I've given up trying to talk to them. One old (teacher)friend, in particular, likes obama's policies. We used to get together twice a year for lunch, but since our argument over obamacare, we haven't seen much of each other.
Bottom line:
There are plenty of people out there who like obama.
Well it seems that way doesn't it?
What we have here is a variation on the John Edwards "two Americas" theme. We have those whose livlihoods depend upon the private sector, and those whose bread is buttered by government.
The latter group would include state, federal, and municipal employees, teachers, firemen, police, a large portion of union rank and file, trial lawyers, some retirees, recipients of various transfer payments, and people who pay no taxes, who simply favor the candidate that will keep the goodies flowing. I have difficulty calling this crazy, as they will vote their own interests.
This is why you can talk to seemingly perfectly sane people who hide the real reason for where they stand politically.
I don't pretend to say that all people fit these cubby-holes, I personally know owners of businesses who owe nothing to government, but wear their liberalness proudly. Now THEY are crazy.
Up until the 2010 elections, I had posited on this forum that I felt that those who depended upon government for their financial well-being exceeded in number those who derive their income from the private sector. I was wrong.
I hope I'm still wrong now.
I think 2012 is our last chance.
