My employer sent out benefits enrollment for next year. Three details stuck out:
* They included Medicaid enrollment forms for everyone so that if you cannot afford the higher rates, you know immediately how to get “health insurance”.
* The company has set up weight loss, stop smoking, fitness and stress management programs galore - and it is promoted as a new benefit to offset the higher health insurance rates.
* Your children to age 26 can be on the health insurance, but those who choose to self insure or go with their own out of pocket coverage no longer get a cash “bonus” from the company for being responsible for themselves.
Sounds like your employer is trying to comply, although that’s no guarantee they won’t get hit with a penalty in one form or another. What’s next, will they just start firing anyone not in compliance?
