The integration of Texas Rangers, Guardsmen, Border Sheriffs and communication and aviation assets is one of the more innovative of Governor Perry's approaches to border security. These programs date back to at least 2005 and I believe some elements were implemented even earlier by the Governor.
Which begs the question, is it the role of a state like Texas, or Indiana, or Massachsetts for that matter, to use it's limited monetary and precious human treasure to defend itself against foreign invaders? If we truly are a Representative Constitutional Republic, the answer should be No! But in the case of Texas the answer has to be yes, if survival is to matter.
Had the Federal Government respected the Constitutional imperative to secure and defend our borders, this burden that has now fallen on the people of Texas could have been lightened considerably and ideally eliminated completely.
Unfortunately, that has not been the case. Those who profess to be staunch conservatives claim to be appalled. Isn't it ironic that the Governor of Texas would become the target of those who claim to demand secure borders?
I suspect that the people ‘targeting’ Perry, even on FR, have little knowledge of his actions and have done no research what-so-ever. They’ve read the inflammatory headlines and off they go. They seem to do this because he’s not their “preferred” candidate so they don’t bother with the facts.
You know the tagline “Proudly posting without reading the article since _____”
Ironic?
nah, its just knee jerk reactions of those who can’t find ANYONE perfect enough, anyone who would have done what the Federal govt refused to do with only Texas funds...They are in fantasy land, while Perry is trying to do what he can with the problems in his state.
Compare him to Reagen and Reagen would be torn apart on this website for his immigration amnesty. Reagen did the best he could, but whoa...if he had done that now? Trashed on Freeper for sure.
