Good post, thanks. I was wondering how a liberal friend of mine (anarchist/theosophist; she’s awake about 0bama now though so there is hope!) got so impressed by Ron Paul... it clicked reading your post.

You forgot crazed druggies, perfidious porn addicts, and pernicious pedophiles.
This is an entirely plausible explanation. I don’t rule out conspiracies, myself. I part company with conspiracy theorists only to the extent that they claim that they know the precise nature of the conspiracy and the identities of the conspirators. It’s always people who are their polar opposites. Left-wingers believe in a vast right wing conspiracy. Right-wingers believe in a vast left wing conspiracy.
I am a conspiracy agnostic. I believe there are multiple conspiracies at work, in competition with one another, and I can’t begin to guess what those conspiracies are, or who is the real man behind the curtain, or anything. Probably a little of this, and a little of that, and G-d is the only real power behind everything. Every conspiracy that there is is analogous to me to a baby in a car seat, playing with a toy steering wheel, and believing that he’s making the car go by spinning the wheel as fast as he can.
So this conspiracy may well be true. It sounds likely. Wouldn’t put it past them. No fear, though. Ron Paul is nuts. The Pauleolithic Paulistas are nuts, too, and not necessarily on his team. Pass the pretzels. Yawn.

Most of them whom I have met fall into one or some of these categories.
Actually the only people I have met who are weirder than the RuPaul supporters are Lyndon LaRouche supporters.
I mean they are certifiable. And good for a laugh if you ever run into one.
We mustn’t forget the Neo-Confederates! No RuPaul block party can start without them!
A couple of RuPaulistas showed up at a Tea Party rally I attended back in 2009. They were passing out fliers about the “Zionist conspiaracy” or some other nonsense. The organizers asked them to leave, pronto. (To their credit, they left immediately.)
Neo-Confederates? I havdn’t run into them. It sounds as if they are trying to out Larouche LaRouche.

Yes, they are alive and well in their special version of Zombie Hell. I see them occasionally with their table top displays of some hoaky magazine.
I think LaRouche is still alive. I don’t know whether he is out of jail yet though.
Cass Sunstein is Chairman Obama’s UNELECTED “Regulatory Czar”. His job is to write regulations that carry the same weight as laws. His wife, Samantha Power is an Israel hating $oros crony who’s works for the National Secrurity Council.
