This is one sad thread, and a constant reminder why this conservative and longtime member spends very little time posting here. Ron Paul may be an idiot, and indeed I have NEVER supported him. However, for anyone who purports to be a Conservative to take the position that a US Citizen by birth can have all of his or her rights waived or extinguished without due process, is ignorant. Moreover, to hide behind the Constitution, as many often do for the arguments they like, and then dump on it for an outcome they really want — that my friends is what liberals do. It's the difference between intellectual honesty and base, ignorant, reactionarism. I am happy this enemy of America is dead, I but I take no pleasure in the shredding of the Constitution that took place to make it happen.

One must also shred the Constitution to accept that Anwar al-Awlaki was a citizen in the first place.

Yeah much better to send US Soldiers or Yemeni in there for a fire fight to maybe get him out for trial.

You volunteering for that?

No thanks, I agree with the tactical decision made here.

Gen 9:6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.”

I believe in the unalienable rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but I also believe in the right to punish murder.

Due process came from his own actions and statements, from the murder and mayhem he promoted and provoked. He declared war on America, instructed killers and praised killers.

Nevertheless, Yemen is claiming credit for the killing.

If that US citizen is in a foreign land fighting for the enemy in a war, then yes, he is nothing more than another enemy combatant.
