Another image from the same day, same dress, same long hair. The black and white image is a BOY!
Yup ... lots of disinformation being floated, to confuse the issues and confound the facts.
That would be my guess.
Malcolm was murdered by his fellow Muslims in February 1965 when Stanley Ann was:
1. was 25 years old
2. was enrolled at U. of HI
3. would marry Soetoro in March 1965 one month later
4. was clearly female and not an androgynous looking teenager
5. had not undergone a chin-ectomy and nose job plastic surgery that would have been required to make her look like the teenager near X in February 1965.
One of the big revelations by Manning Marable was that Malcolm X was rampantly bisexual and misogynistic.
Marable died shortly before his new X bio was published and at the following link a panel of prominent Black academics struggle in obvious discomfort with whether or not they are comfortable with the "new truths" about Malcolm as opposed to the white-washed version in the Spike Lee movie or in popular perception.

After watching this C-SPAN Book TV video I find it highly plausible to believe that the young person, that Marable described as X's lover, was a male.
BTW, the woman on the panel, Melissa Harris-Perry (Marxist columnist for The Nation), is the same Tulane professor who made waves this week by saying that white progressives who are not standing behind Obama are racist because they stood behind the white Clinton when he got in trouble.
That short haired person bears no resemblance to SAD. All wrong.
