Cain’s proposal is a bad idea. Before any national sales tax is implemented, the 16th amendment has to be repealed, all income taxes ended and the IRS shut down.
9-9-9 will ultimately turn into 15-15-15 and higher. I’m all for a simpler tax system but unless the spending binges are stopped, these numbers will not stay at the 999 level. It’ll keep going up and up and up.
Exactly, until spending is finally brought under control, any tax plan is destined to increase.
Self-control doesn't seem to work. There must be a mechanism put in place that forces spending reduction. So far we haven't found it.
