Dehydration remains an important ethical issue in the country precisely because it is a proper measure of our morality as a people. And, it is one that can cut both ways politically. A society is judged by how it treats the least among us. The way they treat the least among us shows exactly how they plan to treat the rest of us when the time comes.

The way they treat the least among us shows exactly how they plan to treat the rest of us when the time comes. They've already expressed a willingness to send one-in-eight of us to the ovens, and not as pastry chefs.
Most of us dead, the rest in chains.

Dehydrating someone to death is a cute way to skirt the fact one is sanctioning their death. It would be more honest if these people put a bullet to the brain of the victim. At least they would not suffer as long. This falls in the same ethical chasm as those that say they want abortion legal but rare. Why rare? If it is not a human being, what difference if the procedure is rare or frequent? These people are attempting to avoid confronting the truth of what they are doing. They are killing an innocent person.

The way they treat the least among us shows exactly how they plan to treat the rest of us when the time comes. No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
