Only 4 things can be highlighted as topic designations for a thread post. I found it a hard choice because business/economy, education, government, health/medicine, history, military, politics, religion, science and society all should be included.
It is being reported by environmentalists -- believers in a socialist green religion -- that their judgment and knowledge is being resisted by unscientific, religious deniers hell-bent on blocking their path. So the deniers need to be identified for the good of humankind. This is dangerous. This morning I posted an article that explores with alarm, how Global Warming Consensus is denied by conservatives that their resistance is an ever growing problem stemming from the religious right in America. The American Allergy to Global Warming: Why?
I posted it because Gov. Rick Perry was mentioned at the top of the article. And there is good reason why. Socialists around the world know that Rick Perry has been fighting them on the legal front, the education front, and the environmental front for years. Due to his past, he knows why and where they are determined to lead us. Why would Rick Perry feel so strongly about these issues and their connection to states' rights and free market capitalism? Why does the Left recognize the danger of a Rick Perry controlling the Bully Pulpit of the White House, his veto, his appointments?
Rick Perry grew up on a farm (I know he keeps telling us this but I think it is done for a reason). His mother sewed his clothes. They worked and went to church. Rick Perry was a Boy Scout, earning Eagle Scout rank (so has his son). Rick Perry was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He went to Texas A&M and was a member of the Corps. Rick Perry joined the Air Force, serving 5 years. He flew C-130s around the world before returning to West Texas and the family farm. He courted his future wife, taught Sunday school and worked the land with his father. And in time he went into state politics.
Rick Perry is a self made man. He was called one of the Pit-bulls in the Texas legislature because he was a Democrat member who sat in the lower pit of the House Appropriations Committee and bitterly fought spending increases. He is naturally a conservative. In 1989 he joined the Republican Party that had begun taking root in Texas as the Democratic Party ideology began moving left. Perry ran for the Agriculture Commission seat against leftist Jim Hightower and won. In 1998 Rick Perry ran for Lt. Gov. and won (he was the first Republican Lt. Gov. elected since Reconstruction).
When George W. Bush became president in 2000, Rick Perry became the governor of Texas. He has been reelected twice (the last time beating out Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, a candidate supported by the Bush family and Karl Rove in a primary challenge). When Gov. Rick Perry was elected in 2010 for his 3rd term, he was joined by a Republican super majority in the Texas legislature. Major legislation was passed and signed by Gov. Perry, including (after a 6 year struggle) Photo Voter ID and tighter controls over how money is spent. Perry's history of being attacked by the mainstream media is well known and his election was won without one endorsement by a mainstream media outlet.
Rick Perry has served twice as Chairman of the Republican Governors Association. The country has seen a rise in the number of conservative governors and state legislatures in recent elections. Rick Perry broke fundraising records for the RGA. And now Rick Perry is a candidate in the GOP Primary for President of the United States. He wants to lower taxes, return states' rights, repeal Obama care, and remove the regulations and laws that are strangling our economy, and get people back to work.
Currently, the Left is battling Gov. Rick Perrys stand on Big Education (unions) and EPA Energy and Environment dictates. Trial lawyers have made it known they plan to block any more power going to Rick Perry, as he has won so many victories against them as the Gov. of Texas. The Left knows Rick Perry has his own religious beliefs and does not adhere to their pseudo green religion. They know he understands the land, that he was brought up in a religious home and has worked for everything he has. The Left knows he attended a school that didnt teach him to hate his country but rather instilled love of country. They know he served in the military and still encourages boys to become Boy Scouts. The Left can not put the lie to the fact that Texas' economy is running rings around Obama's disastrous economic policies. The Left knows that when Rick Perry shows compassion has a heart it isnt because he wants to make you dependent on him but rather to set you free.
If the Left can demonize Gov. Perry, a man who believes in standing with our allies, making government as inconsequential as possible in our lives and who holds firmly to his belief in American exceptionalism if they can successfully define him as a rightwing religious dunce, while simultaneously encouraging people in the GOP Primary to lambast him as someone who isnt conservative, then the Left will have won the ideological battle -- their war against capitalism will be complete and they will permanently Rule America.
What’s the problem with people who don’t have an “about” page?
I can hardly believe four days into it nobody’s correctly analyzed why Perry ‘apparently’ shot himself on national TV.
I commented to Cinci and unfortunately gave away a quick method of spotting the operatives. Now we have to do research that is a bit more time consuming.
I just thought it was hysterically funny that Pelham made that demand without being aware that his very own page had that.
Sheesh, nobody around here has a sense of humor.
BTW, I have not picked a candidate, I have been here since 1998 and I NEVER pick a candidate until right before the primaries.
Thanks for the sane response.
I’ve seen the sleepers. When they pop back up, they don’t often last long.
I’m amazed at the regular paleo-posters that seem to recite the left’s talking points but still don’t get fried. Sooner or later, they tend to fart off to the wrong person and get slammed.
Back on topic, and to repeat what I said up thread, Perry wasn’t perfect but was still acceptable. Now he’s moved out into Romney territory. There’s no way I will vote for Mitt.
Perry needs to understand that we get called “heartless” enough by our political enemies. The comment will hurt him.
Sigh, of well, instead of discussing the economy we seem to be arguing over laws that were passed 10 years ago and and EO that got recinded quite a few years ago. I guess everyone here is making tons of money and none are unemployed because it sure doesn't seem to matter to any of them.
I wanted to know which candidate threads you do post to in order to have an idea about who you will support.

I have been called a PDSer, a religious racist and now a liberal shill. None of which is true.
I have posted on Cain threads, Bachmann threads, Romney threads, Perry threads, and Palin threads.
I would have held my nose and voted for Perry but not after the debate. Ain’t gonna happen.
Until last night, I didn’t have a clear candidate. It was easier to say who I wasn’t going to support. I’m throwing in for Cain. He is a genuine conservative and neither He nor his supporters have insulted me.
Like it or not, the supporters says something about a candidate. It shows the type of people that flock to them and are vocal about it and it is sometimes the type of people I don’t want to associate or be associated with.
The Romney supporters all assume I won’t vote for him b/c he is Mormon.
A few of the Palin supporters attacked me because I had the gall to question something and don’t think she is going to run.
The Paul supporters are either libertarians or just plain nuts.
And the Perry supporters can’t even admit he is weak on immigration or that he screwed up. They are blind and are painting him as a god-send when he has proven he can’t debate and caters to criminals (illegal aliens).
Now, I am certainly not of the type to choose a candidate based solely on their supporters, but several of the supporters have turned me off. I want a conservative candidate. I want someone who agrees with my worldview and has guts to say it. Up until last night, I didn’t see how Cain could get any momentum, but this FL win should do a lot to help that. He meets my criteria and I actually like his supporters on here.
I would like to see that list too.
The biggest obstacle to stopping illegal immigration is the Federal Government. The states are limited by law and hampered by the Feds refusal to do their job. Again, Texas’s in-state tuition isn’t free, the parents pay taxes and pay for the tuition.
Why are you on a Perry Thread?
That really baffles me. If our economy is destroyed nothing else will matter; not immigration, not crony capitalism, not HPV, not Social Security, not 401k, and on and on. We would grind to a halt and lose nearly all of our wealth.
It is NOT his in state tuition law.
It is the State of Texas in-state tuition law and was voted on by the legislature.
I wonder how people would feel if Texans started telling people from other states that their laws were no good and they needed to change them.
What candidate are you supporting?
And how well do you think that candidate will handle illegal immigration? How much experience do they have handling a 1200 mile border that has been left open by the Federal Government for years?
How well does your candidate know the President of Mexico and how well do you think he/she can get help on that side of the border?
Remember, Mexico is one of the United States largest trader.
And lastly, how will that candidate fair with the hispanic vote? Can he/she pull hispanic votes from Obama?
It's been the level of discourse since the day Perry declared his candidacy. I'm sorely disappointed in Perry's debate performances, but overall his conservative credentials and executive experience far exceed his competition. That doesn't matter though. What people seem to want is an orator with skills to match Mr. Hope-n-Change. And they'll probably get it.
Texas wouldnt be legislating laws to deal with children of illegals. (trying to make lemonade out of lemons) It would be a moot point, if the feds were doing their job.
Very well said. I wish I could express myself like you and some of the others.
When they come for your guns, you’ll wish you’d given him a second look.
I made the mistake of listening to Alex Jones once.
When Perry was running for his last re-election, I read all that stuff by Alex and believed it.
I got mad and started to look at Medina.
I know someone who knows the governor and I discussed those things with that person. I was very enlightened and learned a lot I did not know - all good. I very much trust this person I speak of and would take their word for gold.
Governor Perry is a good man and a good governor.
He would make a great President.
We are very close to that right now, and to be honest, it scares me to death.
You sure as hell ain't winning Perry any votes by accusing us of being undercover liberal agitators simply because we won't blindly follow your candidate off a cliff.
Amen to that!
Thanks for the friendly responses.
Sometimes FR can be like a mine field full of psychopaths. Unfortunately, one of my guilty pleasures is to get psychopaths all spun up.
It’s nice to have civil exchanges.
“Pelham. You’ve been here since before the turn of the century. Has there ever been a mandate to create an “about” page?”
I didn’t get an About Page memo.
Or maybe it got lost in the mail.
Or... I got it and put it in the stack of other memos that someday I’ll get around to looking at.
Actually I do have an About Page, sort of. It says, after a fashion:
“Pelham is quite lazy and barely figured out how to paste the California flag on his page. Otherwise there would be nothing at all, which would be an even greater testament to his inherent laziness. If he weren’t also cheap he would hire one of the numerous mojados who can’t get a Texas college loan to create his About Page for him.”
“Thank you for keeping the thread bumped.”
No problemo. There’s about a zillion posts on it whacking Perry for being an open borders squish. Glad to be of service.
