Texas did pass the Voter ID bill, though, over the protests of whining minorities. We have to show a picture ID at the polls now and I'm quite OK with that.

For Those Of You Who Believe What You Hear Without Checking Your Facts: Governor Rick Perry Doesn’t Spport Illegal Aliens-—> “To Qualify For The Texas In-State Tuition Rate They Have To Turn Themselves Into Immigration Officials And Be In The Process Of Acquiring Citizenship. It Is Exactly Like US Military Service= If You Aren’t A US Citizen You Can Still Serve As Long As You Are In The Process Of Acquiring Citizenship.”

It sounds like Perry has illegals under pretty good control. As long as the Feds are worthless, and any state that tries to seriously stop illegals is punished, I think the other states should follow Perrys lead. He's doing more than anyone else I've heard about.
Good job Perry! Too bad all this couldn't come out in the debates.

The law says nothing about turning yourself in to immigration authorities. From the law, HB 1403,

(4) provides to the institution an affidavit stating that the individual will file an application to become a permanent resident at the earliest opportunity the individual is eligible to do so.

The illegal alien may never be eligible to apply and is under no compunction to do so. How is it going to be enforced? In the meantime, he/she gets in-state tuition. This is just another scam by the politicians to fool the people.

Why are we educating these people? Federal law says it is illegal for illegal aliens to work in this country and it is illegal for empoyers to hire them. They can't get a driver's license. And unlike what Perry said, they are ineligible for welfare benefits, "the Dole."

I wish half the Perry nay-sayers would read your post and get their immigration thing about Governor Perry straightened out. There is so much misinformation about Perry that is used to justify their irrational hatred of him.
