It likely is that our perception of what USA citizens want in government representation are filtered through what gets attention on Free Republic.

We see the world through FreeRepublic glasses.

I’ll be sure to watch it casinva! And THANK YOU for giving the link and the real time impressions.

I’m listening to Benjamin Nethanyahu speaking at the UN right now and will go hear Gov Perry as soon as he finishes.

Thank you again.

That's a good question, ain't it?

---

But that not the original post I commented on. That was:

Just say NO to entitlements for illegals! If you educate them then you will be forced to either give amnesty or change the law so that they can be legally employed.

---

My opinion on the whole immigration bit is:

I don't agree with illegals getting US benefits... and I think that if we cut them off from the benefits, they would up and self-deport themselves, mostly. Out of those that stayed, they would be the self-reliant, which are the type of people we *WANT* to be our immigrants.

As for the in-state college rate, I think it's a red herring meant to distract us. So what if they get in-state tuition rates, they are in the state. The real question is why our Federal government is letting them in and advertising for more with all the benefits given. None of which is addressed by focusing in on the in-state tuition rate law signed by a state governor.

great speeches and poll numbers don’t matter.

only debate performance!

you should know that! don’t you remember President Alan Keys? the one who went on to beat Obama in his Senate run.... oh wait!.... that’s not what happened at all!

Thanks for all that. Hard to keep track of all the legislation and court rulings that have screwed this country over and over again.

I remember so clearly the day Brennan died. It was hard to say anything respectful, so much damage had he done.

Federal or state shouldn’t have their fingers in education at all. They should not be in the education business. They should not be providing loans, they should not have any say in what colleges and schools charge or who they choose to educate.

That changes the instate tuition rate discussion doesn’t it?

If you believe in government schools, you’re just a RINO who is not pure enough to be president. (Kidding just to get a point made)

In our past it used to be against the law to teach slaves to read. This was a law passed by South Carolina 270 years ago. Was this the right or wrong thing for the state to do?

Why have “Benefits” at all? Isn’t that how we have gotten in to this 15 trillion dollar debt? Why should any American live out of the pockets of their neighbor?

Get rid of the benefits, and what is left to argue about? Same applies to issues with gays. The argument is over government benefits or giveaway insurance. Get rid of the benefits and the arguments go away.

Let’s cut to the chase here, there are a large majority of illegals who are here and don’t give a damn about the United States, there don’t wish to share out culture, our history and they could care less about anything American. They are here because their on country is corrupt to the point that the people have few freedoms and little or no chance to better themselves especially economically.

No all but good majority come here to in a sense create a country within a country the ‘United States of Mexico’ one where they can live and thrive in the same history, culture and language of their homeland and yet not under the same corrupted government.

Some will want to argue numbers here so let’s use Tribune7’s number of 10 million illegals and lets say just 30% have the attitude I am writing about do you really want 3 million people coming into the United States and more or less colonizing it?

If there was a another country that border Mexico that was just as successful as the United States where they could live and thrive in their own enclaves they would move there just as quick as they move here.

Yes not all are like that, but a good potion are and we can not have people coming into this country who are of a mindset that they a merely wish to create ‘colonies’ of their home country within ours.

History is full of the results where such behavior was allow and eventually push came to shove and the results were ugly. And Rick Perry and may may others are enabling these people in their ‘colonization’ of the United States.

Well, that sums up my position as well. But since the posts I was replying to dealt with illegal immigration, I gave my view on illegal immigration.

Had the original post topic been about benefits, you’d have seen a post that’d have been nearly identical with yours.

:-P

” conservatives don’t have the luxury of dropping Perry. We have no place else to go. He is the only available port in a storm.”

Not true. Any one of those other candidates on that platform last night would be 1000% better than BHO.

By Nov 2012 Obama will likely not even be on the Democratic ticket as his own party in a state of desparation may well force him to resign or announce he is not running in 2012. If he does actually manage to stay in the race the GOP could run a corpse and win.

At this point I am waiting to see Newt’s new Contract For America which he will unveil in Iowa next week. I think a Gingrich/Cain ticket would win handily in 2012.

Perry is committing suicide with this immigration stance. If he keeps it up he’s toast.

Gov. Perry sued for Texas' money (without Washington telling us how to spend it) -- And won! Promise Kept.

In Texas Schools, Perry Shuns Federal Influence ………>>>When Secretary of Education Arne Duncan jabbed Mr. Perry on public schools in mid-August, it was only the latest skirmish between the governor and the Obama administration since late 2009, when Mr. Perry announced that the state would not sign on to common core-curriculum standards.<<<...

The Left is signaling that they hope a President Perry will fix education and get the inner cities out from under the impossible mess they've created:

Will Rick Perry Unravel the Strange Consensus on Public Education?

Pushing Amnesty or rewarding illegals is NOT a conservative position. Jim has banned people before for that.

And CW has a history of that.

Hence, my statement.

Any more brilliant comments?

Any more brilliant comments?

Nope. Not at the moment, but I'll keep an eye out for your posts to see if I do then.

By the way, I've been on FR since 1998, so I would imagine that if Jim wanted to ban me for what I say, the information I provide, or the encouragement I give to conservative FReepers, he has had, and will have, plenty of time to do so.

Hence, my STAND.

The first LINK worked for me.

Perry's CPAC speech was GREAT -- he starts out slow, winds up and then hits it out of the park!

Also, if anyone hasn't seen Perry's new ad it's HERE (over 445,000 views)

I have history and it’s out there for all FReepers to see.

I would never presume to ask the owner of this forum to remove you.

I am open to other ideas and learn from them.

I paid out-of-state benefits when my kids went to college. Why should a non-citizen get subsidies I don’t get?
