So you subsidize the college education of illegals who graduate high school and so what then? You allow them to hold jobs as well? NO ENTITLEMENTS FOR ILLEGALS PERIOD.
LOL... And may the FReeperesque live on in us all! :-)
Its kinda like saying that a bank robber is working towards financial independence.
But the fact is immigration is one issue.
But it effects (bleeds over into) so many other problems and has the potential (dare I say we're on the cusp) of being the straw that broke free-market capitalism in the U.S.
If we can get the border sealed and halt the dependency state Dems encourage, it will stop many other negatives pressing on the U.S.
Follow the money.
The reality is you got at least 10 million here. Many of them are holding jobs. That's what's on the table for you to deal with.
Personally, I'd rather see them speaking and reading English and holding a job, than milking the system by collecting food stamps and health care and not holding a job.
Thank you for your informative and well-documented posts!
The way I’m understanding this is that they must be on a path to citizenship so that when they were finished their education they would also have citizenship, thus allowing for them to be legally employed.
Where people need to draw a distinction is that Texas and a few other states have hispanic immigrants that have been here for decades. And TONS of them. They're here, they aren't leaving, a few want a college education. Can't deport them, can't deny them entrance. Let them pay the same rates as any other resident of the state.
No different that buying a hunting license or fishing license. If you live in that state, you pay state rates. If you don't, you pay non-resident rates.
They're PAYING for their college education.
Perry lost my primary vote in last nights debate.
Well, we shall see. If Romney surges to a lead in SC, I’ll concede you might have a point. Even if he does, however, I think the lead will disappear long before any voting. In the end, immigration isn’t going to have much to do with voting in SC or anywhere else this year and Perry’s comments last night will have very little impact on the race. Some of the impact they have will, in fact, be positive for Perry.
If you’re right Perry is done for. If I’m right he’ll coast to an easy win over Governor Gay Marriage and Socialized Medicine. Time will tell.
Rick Perry is an illegal enabler. You can spin that any way you want.
The purpose of writing the essay of this thread was to answer your questions. Please read it.
That's a very good question, which by the way, should also be directed at the majority of those sitting in Congress, and the occupant in the WH.
You may not get to vote for a primary candidate. Mitt Romney and his minions, Texas for Public Justice (Soros)and Freepers will have spread enough lies that Mitt’s all that will be left on the primary ballots next spring.
It's not about the Federal meddling in a tuition law. One of the key places where there should be unanimity of policy in the country should be about what benefits are reserved for citizens and lawfully present aliens.
Unfortunately, we now have an Administration in Washington which wants a unanimity of policy resulting in open borders and benefits. Ideally, the Federal government would act in the interests of its existing citizens by having a sane border control and immigration policy. In the absence of that, the states go their way in all sorts of different ways, from sanctuary cities to in-state tuition programs for illegal aliens to Sheriff Joe Arpaio's round-em-up policies.
So, I was stating what the policy should be on in-state/out of state tuition in my ideal world. If states can redefine the benefits of citizenship as they wish, we're going to get all sorts of crazy things happening--as we are.
Generally, my policy is that he who pays for it decides how it is spent. So, I'd ordinarily be against Federal meddling if the State made the expense. But, treatment of illegals should be uniform across the oountry in my opinion, so this is a place where Federal input is appropriate (if it is sane, and it hasn't been).
You're dreaming...
The information LINKED in Post # 171 in reply to your photo and characterization of that photo in Post # 169 are the FACTS.
I hope you and others will take the few minutes it will require to go and read it, so you will understand why Gov. Perry is there signing the legislation.
