FIrst, don’t make the mistake of comparing polls from different firms. They are doing things differently, they ask questions differently, and the results don’t mateh. You’re lucky enough when the same polling firm takes polls a month apart and things can be compared.

Second, if you were polled, wouldn’t you volunteer “Sarah Palin”? Are there any Sarah Palin fans here who refuse to say “Sarah Palin” in a poll simply because she isn’t running yet?

Third, are there any voters out there who DON’T know about Sarah Palin, and who already have either decided to support her, or decided not to support her? Is she really going to pick up a lot more support just by announcing her candidacy? Are people out there who actually don’t KNOW she might be a candidate?

I find your analysis unpersuasive for those reasons.

The only way we’ll know what will happen if Palin gets in the race, is if Palin actually gets in the race.

At this point, I seriously question the judgement of die-hard Palin supporters.

Die-hard Palin supporters all over the country have been waiting for you to weigh in on their judgment. Thanks. Now we can carry on with our lives.

Bill Kristol on Fox News Sunday just cited the CBS/NYT poll as a sign that the GOP primaries is still “an open race” with Perry and Romney both in decline and only 39% of respondents choosing either Perry or Romney.
