Do NOT tell Governor Sarah Palin about this ! Wait until you see THIS “crony capitalism”

President Obama, the House and the Senate are about to do it to you again! It will happen in less than 24 hours. President Obama will sign the new patent law which is a bailout to a big fancy influential law firm – Wilmer Hale – to cover up and protect them from their malpractice. If President Obama does not sign the bill tomorrow (and he plans to do so to much ridiculous fanfare since it is packed full of deals for special interests), Wilmer Hale could be on the hook for their malpractice to the tune of more than $200 MILLION dollars! Why should they get cover?

President Obama should NOT sign the bill, veto it, and send it back to the House and the Senate and tell them to fix it and to STOP THE SPECIAL DEALS FOR THE INFLUENTIAL. This has to stop. It is not fair to everyone else.....

The GOP candidates had better start drawing attention to this corruption immediately. It would be the fastest way to alert people to what the Regime is up to. This should be the main point from them for the Sunday shows.

Since, it’s about 95 percent likely that this administration is done come January, 2013; they will probably pack as much as they can from now until then.

I don’t know how much the Senate and House can stop at this point, but they better stop as much as they can.

There may be only so much they can do, with how the powers are divided.

That is what I don’t understand. I seem to recall Colburn railing against it’s passage on solid ground, only to be spurned. Seems to me the language is such that if you can buy a bevvy of lawyers to get your patent fast tracked, you are golden, otherwise you are screwed.
And, I visit GretaWire often. She is very interactive, and neutral. But, she is also pragmatic, and seems, of late, frustrated with the doubletalk and cronyism.

Congressman John Conyers (D-Michigan) for his role in getting passed special interest legislation that would retroactively save corporate law firm WilmerHale more than $200 million. I am mad as hell at Boehner for allowing this to be added to Patent bill!

You are talking about dozens of bills that can be hundreds of pages long and looking for relatively short paragraphs written into the bills.

Good luck finding them at the best of times.

My oldest is preparing to take the patent bar, which is why this caught my attention... AND Greta is correct from what I understand .... cronyism at its low and its peak. I sure hope Boehner has a conservative opponent so Boehner can spend all his time golfing with the Pharaoh.

This bill is nothing less than another monumental federal giveaway for banks and huge multinationals and an off shoring job killing nightmare for America. Just because they call it “reform” doesn’t mean it is. Even the leading patent expert in China has stated the bill will help them steal our inventions. Who are the supporters of this bill working for?? http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/07/04/in-a-bill-wall-street-shows-clout/

Patent reform is a fraud on America. This bill will not do what they claim it will. What it will do is help large multinational corporations maintain their monopolies by robbing and killing their small entity and startup competitors (so it will do exactly what the large multinationals paid for) and with them the jobs they would have created. Yet small entities create the lion’s share of new jobs. According to recent studies by the Kauffman Foundation and economists at the U.S. Census Bureau, “startups aren’t everything when it comes to job growth. They’re the only thing.” This bill is a wholesale slaughter of US jobs. Those wishing to help in the fight to defeat this bill should contact us as below.

Small entities and inventors have been given far too little voice on this bill when one considers that they rely far more heavily on the patent system than do large firms who can control their markets by their size alone. The smaller the firm, the more they rely on patents -especially startups and individual inventors.

This is yet another nail in our coffin. A huge one!

We should have known something was up as soon as patent reform appeared on Obama’s list of super most urgently required acts to improve the economy.

I would encourage your child to get his/her Professors to read the fine print. I know things can be over generalized, but, I trust Colburn; if he thinks it reeks of a hand-out to lawyers, I believe him. Best of luck to your oldest.

Excuse me I thought when Boehner took over as speaker he was not going to let riders on bills or ear marks in bills since the Republican control all the committees and Sub committees there is no excuse of letting a 214 million dollar rider that bails out A huge law firm!!!
