A bit off topic, but I’ve come to the conclusion that libs are either ignorant/uninformed by intent or by laziness, think they are right about everything, won’t listen to facts or are completely unaware of them.

I just had a conversation with a lib about how “the rich” in NYC are leaving in droves because of high taxes and he said “BS” that’s not true. I told him to look it up - it’s fact and that less than 100,000 people are basically supporting the City via their taxes.

I also told him that California is arguably the worst state for a business, and he replied “that’s not true” I can think of a lot of worse places to do business”

I told him these are facts that he can google, to which he replied “I don’t need to - I watch the (local) news and read the (local) paper here in Marin County, just north of SF

He is 58 years old and lives off of some type of government support. His solution is to “tax the rich”

I told him you can tax “the rich” at 100% and it would not get us out of this 15 Trillion dollar hole.

As for our energy problems, I proposed we transition our cars to run on natural gas, not electricty, which isn’t free and requires coal and other energy sources to create, and that we have an abundance of NF in Alaska.

He replied “Who told you that? Sarah Palin? then he laughed”

I told him we are giving our money to our enemies in exchange for oil, which is sheer madness.

He replied “Let’s keep importing our oil from the Middle East as they will eventually run out of it, then we can tap our own oil”

Like I said, this guy is 58 years old. It was like talking to a 5th grader about world politics.

He also says “America will never go broke, as we can just print more money”

I asked him if he is aware or what is going on in Euro countries. He replied “That will never happen here”

I said “What about the Great Depression”?

He said it was caused by rich Republicans and nothing like that will ever happen again, unless the GOP gets back into power as they have caused all of our countries problems, and proceeded to dig up the grave of RWR and to blame him, a man who took over a failed Dem Presidency and turned our country around.

He replied, “That was luck as economic cycles come and go. Reagan just “got lucky” as he was with the USSR and other accomplishments.

Of course, he gets most of his food from a “food bank” (donations) and hasn’t bought food for himself in years.

I’ve noticed the cost of food has gone up dramatically over the past several months. He hasn’t because he gets most of his food for “free” which isn’t “free” it’s paid for by people like myself that work and pay taxes so he can do nothing all day. (He claims he’s “retired” but he gets a check from the state 2x a month”)

He also thinks Obama is doing a good job, despite his plunging job approval ratings. He said those are meaningless and rigged by the GOP and that Obama will easily win a second term.

I told him the Dems should have elected Hillary, who I don’t like but is far more knowledgeable and has an experienced husband to advise her on tough issues.

I also asked him how Obama is going to get re-elected when his job approval ratings are plummeting and are currently in the low 40’s. Again, he said Obama is doing a great job, but the GOP is hampering him and that the polls are rigged.

I told him “Do you think Obama is the only POTUS to have to deal with an opposing party in the House/Senate?”

Obama’s arrogance is “It’s either my way or no way” and if he doesn’t get his way, he blames the GOP

I asked him, what pre-election promises has Obama kept?

Obama promised by this time in his term he would:

1) Cut the deficit in half.
2) End the war in Iraq
3) End the war in Afghanistan
4) Close Gitmo
5) Lower unemployment & create millions of jobs.

Those were just a few of his pre-campaign promises I could remember, as I was so mad I couldn’t think straight anymore, to which he replied “It’s the fault of the GOP” - they won’t let Obama do anything.

I told him Obama had a filibuster-proof House and Senate for two years and accomplished nothing, except pushing thru a health care bill which the SCOTUS will rule unconstitutional, to which he replied “That’s because the GOP controls the SCOTUS”

I told him it’s because it’s unconstitutional, and just about any Constitutional expert will tell him the same.

I asked him “what about the 2 years he had without the GOP?”

He said they were working “behind the scenes” to make Obama look bad. I said Obama is doing a good job by himself and I asked him again about his broken campaign promises, to which he replied, “I have to leave now, I don’t have time to argue these pointless accusations”

So there you have it - a typical “debate” with a typical, SF Bay Area Democrat.

Sorry for the long, OT post, but I just had to unload.

If you’ve read all this, thanks for reading as it took a while to write and I had to get this out of my system to an understanding group of people.

I read and enjoyed your conversation as well.

Those two checks your friend gets from the state might be what they call “crazy checks” on the street.

I would check to make sure he’s taking all of his meds on time. He sounds like he might have some “issues” going on.

And there you have it, the typical liberal in this country. Doesn’t pay taxes, is on food stamps and/or welfare and is a complete parasite on society.

On top of that, is completely unable to process facts or logic, and is programmed from birth to spout only liberal bullcrap.

There is absolutely no reason to wonder why Nazi Pelousy continues to easily get re-elected. He perfectly represents her voter base, and there are millions just like him.

So, probably the first mistake was trying to talk to the liberal to begin with, it is a complete waste of time.

I am but a humble welder/ fitter. I don’t profess to be a genius. But I think I have been blessed with common sense.
My kid sister on the other hand (51yrs) is a grad from smith collage. Cumlaude. Political science major. I say to her one day a few years back,”how can you vote this way with whats on the news?
She says, in stunning shock, “I dont have time to watch the news”.
It basically ended there as I was speechless
