Today, a decade later, we have a park and a giant gaping hole in New York City

It is frustrating it is not already complete. But to claim all we have is a hole in the ground is false.

Personally, liked this design better.

I know it was never going to happen....for a lot of reasons ... but I still wish they would have built it back to look exactly like it did

For fun, I like the middle finger design. I would have preferred that we rebuild the two towers on exactly the same location as the originals slightly higher and within as short a time as possible. Both original tower 1 was begun in 68 and tower two in 1969 and both were occupied by 1972.

The gaping hole (holes really) are the two "lakes" intended to memorialize the towers.

It all reminds me of the "Black Gash" the scar that is the Vietnam Memorial in the National Mall. It speaks of defeatism rather than can-doism
