Your candidate is?
Why do you care who “his” candidate is? So you can pigeon hole him as a palinista, a Paulbot, or whatever and dismiss what he says?
If you disagree with what he wrote, counter his arguments. Fight his reasoning with your reasoning, apply logic and correct some misstated facts, but don’t just dismiss him because you want to fit him in some neat association.
Texas’ relationship with Mexico is very different from that of California or Mexico. An initiative like Prop 187 never would have passed in Texas. It’s not that Texans favor illegal immigration, but we recognize a real need for much of the labor that does come in. We want lots of legal cross-border traffic.
Also, we have a much smaller welfare state than California, so we don’t feel we’re getting raped like taxpayers there do.
Regardless, I think even most Texan’s are coming to the realization we need to secure the border through some affirmative means. Nothing will be fool-proof, but it needs to be a lot better (as an aside, the only ‘fool-proof’ solution is for Mexico to become open, free, stable, and prosperous - then they can filter out those coming from Central America - that’s decades away though).
Perry is my governor and I voted for him in every statewide election he’s run in. I won’t support him for president though.
He is good at keeping the status quo. His knee-jerk response to most issues is another government program.
We can’t afford the status quo any longer or any more government programs. We need somebody who actually has cut the size of government. NOTHING in Perry’s background suggests he would cut government costs, payrolls, or programs. He’d just change the beneficiaries.
All these folks coming out so hard about Perry are being disingenuous about their attacks and they use what they think will resonate among conservatives. I think they want a Ron Paul - tin foil and all - or some other candidate that they know folks will think of as insane. If they had a viable candidate, they could speak the name on FR. Until the start telling us who they back, I think the obvious hit Perry pieces should be relegated to the trash bin...
Perfect, apparently.
