Apparently Obama plans to honor NASCAR playoff champion Jimmie Johnson and 11 other drivers in a White House ceremony next week, but five of the 2010 playoff contenders are skipping out. Ouch.
"(SB Nation) NASCAR said Thursday that five drivers Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart will not be attending the White House visit due to schedule conflicts.
They must be very busy people. Regardless of ones political views, the president is still the president and an opportunity to speak with the leader of the free world is a rare and special one.
Youd think whatever photo shoots or sponsor appearances these drivers have lined up on Wednesday afternoon if thats indeed the reason could be rescheduled. After all, this is the President of the United States were talking about here.
For a sport that prides itself on patriotism, having so many drivers turn down the presidents invitation simply seems strange.
Johnson, Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton and Matt Kenseth will attend."
When the President is going after NASCAR drivers you know he is desperate for votes. After all, which demographics holds the majority of NASCAR fans? Midwest, gun-toting white men - the voter base President Obama doesn't like, but has to pretend to like to win another term.
So I think we all know what happens next: "Those white bigoted racists are too good to shake hands with a black president?" Yes Mr. Sharpton and Mr. Jackson, just as racist as you would be if you declined such an offer from good old George W.
Regardless of ones political views, the president is still the president
Matter of opinion.
Many believe he is the resident not President
Many see him as destroying America.
But we still have the freedom to choose our associations in America.................
The five “delinee’s” have moved to the top of my NASCAR favorite drivers. I suspect that the old timers (like Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt Sr., etc.) would not attend an event held by a Kenyan/Indonesian Usurper Socialist Dictator, either.
The blogger can’t count. There are 12 who were invited.
Didn't Jeff Burton consider running for congress as a democrat?
The Jack Roush & the boys did a lot of appearances in the midwest supporting Bush in 04.

I haven’t picked a new favorite since Davey Allison died....looks like I might have a list to choose from.
Does Jack Roush owe anything to George Bush for a pardon the way Rick Hendrick is beholden to Bill Clinton?
There have been presidents from both parties that I found disappointing, to put it mildly. There have been presidents from both parties whom I considered a disgrace to the office. Obama is the first occupant of our White House who crosses the line so that I will not refer to him by any job title higher than "former junior US Senator from Illinois" or "community-organizer-in-chief". The communist thug in our White House is a disgrace to the Democrat Party, which I would not have thought possible considering the phenomenally low standards set by so many of today's Dems.
The bottom line: "the president is still the president" but is the drug-addled bigot in our White House deserving of the title he has claimed after SEIU counted votes from his dead and fictional supporters and screened out votes from the real Americans who wanted a qualified American to lead America?
AFAIK Jack has never been convicted of any crimes.
(as likely to be reported by CNN)...in other news, Obama is basking in his 69% approval rate among NASCAR drivers.
“For a sport that prides itself on patriotism, having so many drivers turn down the presidents invitation simply seems strange”
Wait a minute, didn’t Hillary say that dissent IS patriotic. Or, on the other hand, maybe the fact that they ARE patriotic compels them to stay away from hussein. Something to chew on either way.
Damn, what’s a redneck to do!
Does he even know what NASCAR is?
Somebody needs to photoshop that!
Why help him with his campaign? I wouldn’t go either.
FUBO GTFO ! 505 Days until Noon Jan 20, 2013
they are worried about being jinxed
Okay... Now... Since I've not had a favorite driver in NASCAR since Richard Petty retired, as least I have a narrowed field.
I guess I'll have to start watching these five closer and let their sportsmanship and abilities make the final choice.
