David Honeyboy Edwards, the Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen has died. This morning Monday August 29, 2011, about 3 am while resting peacefully at home, Honeyboy moved on to blues heaven.
This picture was taken in West Point at the dedication of the Howlin Wolf Statue downtown .Rest in peace, sir you were a fine blues gentleman
RIP, indeed. I love the Blues almost as much as I love Mozart and Bach.
SAD PING!
He’ll have good company with Patton and Son...
Blues has always been my favorite. Real soul.
It goes straight to the heart, like all great art, with the sophistication of simplicity.
Makes me wish more black youth would discover the good music black people have created over the years, like blues, jazz, and real R&B, instead of that rap crap.
Yes it does.
I wonder if any of the Chicago bluesmen are still around?
Hugh Sumlin is still alive and touring.
RIP
I must confess that I like some Rap. It is a celebration of evil for the most part but still I like some.
Black youth, hell Black People, do not know their own history and have little idea who their friends and enemies are. Maybe one in a thousand would no where the phrase “the Real McCoy” came from. Most would have little idea of the accomplishments and genius of George Washington Carver.
I think Walter Horton’s son is still on the circuit, too.
