Nevertheless,
Since you are a woman, I must demand we get married right away.
Sorry, taken for over 37 years. But thanks for the compliments.
Hmm ~ onliest correct policy he’s ever pursued was the creation of toll roads ~
Thanks! I'm so sick of folks who don't know JACK about Texas spreading lies about Texas in general, and Perry in particular.
My two personal favorites are the lies about the 2005 bill (which Acorn supported) or the size and scope of Texas debt.
Whenever folks start repeating those lies, I always know I'm talking to the uninformed.
See, I'm easygoing and receptive to new ideas.
If we want to build a road, it must be sustained by tolls until the bond is paid off.
Texas State debt (the debt accumulated due to STATE GOV) is also required by law to not exceed 5% of TX GDP.
All but 10% of the current TX State debt is SELF-SATISFYING BONDS (not on the back of the taxpayer).
Dig into the actual numbers, and you will see how a tiny fraction of what's being reported and misrepresented in blogs all over is ACTUAL taxpayer funded debt, while the rest is bonds and/or local government debt.
Barrett Law is the way to go. That way you get government out of the toilet and off the road (in residential and business districts).
Excellent response.
Great set of facts, well-reasoned arguments - - - good job!
The problem is that the debt-o-crats ( = those who have made a profession out of creating debt , incidentally found in “both” political parties ), are interested in being able to have CONTROL over a candidate.
Ya gotta PC this, and PC that, and when that doesn’t work ya make up PC stuff such as the junk science speculation, (not a theory yet), global warming !
To the Liberal Intelligentcsa Elite ( L.I.E. ) Media and the Debt-o-cratic Party, the Achilles’ Heel of the Re-debt-we-can Political Party is that they still have a sense of honor.
The Debt-o-crat Political Party has no sense of honor, and therefore is immune to shame and accusations of hypocrisy. Hence, they are beyond the reach of the PC Police, the Word Police, and all that holds a society together. They are beyond the reach of Moral Hazard.
It is to Gov. Parry’s credit that the libs are gnashing their teeth at him.
That means two things to me:
1.) Perry is on the right track;
2.) There is HOPE that he will NOT cave-in and become just another RINO.
Being from Missouri on all things Political or Scientific, I will watch with fear as the Re-debt-we-cans pressure ( read: control ) Perry to cave-in on his principles, and thereby “broaden his base.”
Thanks for the bumps and good words!
Muawiyah, I’ve been a little ambivalent about toll roads.
I like the idea those using the road paying them off as we go and routinely use the loop around the bottle-neck in Austin to go north toward Dallas.
Privatization has its limits, though. Businesses have to make a profit while the State needs to pay bills. I don’t like the no-compete and 50 year compacts that we made with Cintra. If they’re such a great idea, I wonder why the State couldn’t do the job ourselves.
I *really* didn’t like the proposal to skip Customs until Kansas that some of the early TTC plans included. I want the jobs in Texas and the control as close to the border as possible.
However, that’s all very old news - “we the people” were heard and lessons were learned.
Mr. hocndoc says no. (He’s not a FReeper.)
great post!
ping!
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
Perry wasn't even on my RADAR as a choice, much less first choice a while back. Today, he's my top choice unless the field/dynamics change a bunch. I'd vote for him with a grin on my face.
“...they are worse than Democrats when it comes to repeatedly spouting falsehoods and swearing it to be fact. “ <<<
Frankly, I am getting a little concerned about what is happening to Google, AOL and now SNOPES. It is getting increasly hard to even find anything but negative material on Perry unless you already know another route to search. I read where that is no accident. (Soros owns SNOPES? Is that true?) Then many on the Right pick that crap up thinking it is their duty to the nation to assist in delivering what is tactical smears produced or manufactured by the Left. I do not believe Perry to be blooper free either, but I know the mission. To boot Obama. Perry can bench Romney and take Obama if he runs well. He is bang on with the singular issue of this election. The Economy.
Outstanding post. Thank you
Thank you for a clear explanation of how debt works in Texas.
Out of everywhere I’ve lived, Texas does the absolute best job with road construction, maintenance, tolls, and public works.
