What I haven’t quite understood or been able to understand in the past two years is: how does one become a “member of the tea party?” Which tea party? There are several groups that seem to have adopted variations on the name for commercial purposes.

I am on a whole lot of political email lists and have yet to be solicited for tea party membership. I’ve attended a few tea party events and even at those was never solicited to join and become a member of any organization call the ‘tea party.’ I’ve never been polled as a ‘tea party member’ or supporter, about who my chosen candidate(s) might be. So who is speaking for the ‘tea party’ and which ‘tea party?’

I actually thought the ‘tea party’s’ effectiveness was its lack of organization, its total grass roots participation, its lack of definition; more of a ‘movement’ than organization. I never felt I had to be in one candidate’s camp or another to be a ‘tea partier.’

Does anyone know who the tea party is, its organization, officers, website, etc? I’m not talking about the Tea Party Express or Tea Party Patriots, or other derivative organization. What/who is THE tea party? And how does one become a member?

It’s a state of mind. Fed up with big government and lying politicians. Fed up with nanny interference in our daily lives. Fed up with being taxed so big spenders can live in the style to which they have become accustomed. Fed up with the corruption. Fed Up.
If you want a local TEA party, start one. Seriously.
