It is my understanding that the concept of zero which influenced western numbering systems originated in India and was subsequently expounded upon by a Persian scientist before Islam (Mohammad). Seperately, the Maya developed the concept of zero in their extensive calendaring but was not an influence in the Arabic numbering systems.
I just asked my mother about that.
Seems that my great grandfather’s arrival date was 1912 but this paper was his declaration of intent which he signed in 1916 (during the two years when Charles was emperor/king)
He didn’t get his full citizenship till 1921.
That region was a real mess of shifting borders and alliances. One of my other great grandfather’s came at around the same time and his paperwork listed him as Austrian/Russian-Polish in orgin but officially Austrian.
Something is wrong here.
Islam destroyed the great societies that produced the math and sciences that previous generatins had cultivated. Islam has left in it’s wake 90 percent of the followers unable to read and everyone dependent - like socialist upon the group chiefftian. The Koran is a book written down by a thief and thug on how to maintain and expand both the wealth and power of his own followers. If a angle spoke to Mohommad, it must be one that was in conflict with the Jewish/Christian God.
My daughter and I just visited the USS Constitution in Boston which was the ship that was sent out to fight the Barbary Pirates.
