...But Republicans in Iowa and South Carolina which hold contests bookending New Hampshire's primary question whether Romney is doing enough to stay competitive in those states.
"He's obviously has the national appeal, the fundraising apparatus. He certainly would be a formidable candidate if he makes it through the primary. But I'm not sure he thinks he can win South Carolina," said Rep. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), who is hosting a series of town hall meetings for Republican presidential contenders. Romney hasn't appeared at one of the town halls, but is working toward setting up a date with Scott.
"I think Romney can win South Carolina, he's just got to put in the effort," the freshman congressman said.
Or he could drop out of the race altogether. That would be okay, too.
Romney needs to go home. Wherever that is.
Don’t count Romney out in SC; after all, with Lindsey G. there, SC is capable of anything foolish.
Let him write off SC. I live in SC and can tell you we’ve written him off.
P.S. Jim Demint is the man. Lindsey Graham... well, he’s the embarrassing stepson.
As I recall, that was Rudy Giuliani’s approach. Let’s hope it has the same results.
Romney would ban alcohol if he had the chance. I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t trust a Mormon in the office of presidency. That’s hardly his only flaw, but it’s the icing on the cake.
To me the biggest flaw with his mormonism is how easily the media will turn it against him if he ever actually became the nominee.
Oh, sure, now they’re all silent and appearing-to-be-understanding on the subject.
But just you wait. If Romney is the nominee there’s going to be a hurricane of magic underwear jokes that will swamp the entire broadband spectrum and all 1000 cable channels.
