From my earliest memories, we had workers from Mexico and
other “hispanics” in the fields picking crops.
When the crops were gone, they left - mostly.
We also had waves of immigrants back during WWI and later who picked crops.
Today, they stay and overwhelm us in droves - that’s the problem.
I began a lifelong friendship with a man I met when he was traveling with his migrant family as a child. They came through every year to pick oinions and carrots. His and two other interrelated migrant families all got their citizenship within a few years of each other. Those migrants were definitely a different crowd than what we see today. Back then, they came for the American dream
Today, they have other things in mind.
