Is Rick Perry really the Marlboro Man?

Do looks help in Presidential elections? Many women would say yes about Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan and Jack Kennedy and the opposite for John Kerry and Michael Dukakis. Certainly Richard Nixon was no looker, but he managed to beat Hubert Humphrey and George McGovern neither of whom were movie star figures.
Now comes Rick Perry who has the rugged western good looks of the Marlboro Man. Will he make ladies hearts go pitter patter? My wife thinks so. No matter what, good looks dont hurt.

Looks matter to shallow voters, which I guess includes most of them. This will be a great advantage for Perry.

At least Perry looks like a heterosexual. Can’t say that for his opponent. You are never going to see Perry mincing around, acting scared at a martial arts display, or putting up curtains.
The question is, Is Perry as much of a guy as Putin? That would take some doing.

No matter what, good looks dont hurt. Since the era of television, perhaps it does hold some sway. Didn't seem to be too much of a problem for Washington, though. He managed to become President, then First Lady under Bush 41.

Marlboro man? Hahahahahahahahahaha!
More like a combination of GW Bush, Gold Hat (from "Treasure of the Sierra Madre"), Liberace (what wonderful hair styling) and whichever ultimate crony capitalist you care to name. Take your pick: I'd name Immelt on the biz side of this proposition and Clinton on the political side. As Wallace once noted about this type of pol: they ain't a dime's worth of difference between the Republicans and the Democrats.
Just another big-government, amnesty-pushing, farm subsidy-taking, good-ol-boy Republican Establishment pol, no more and no less.

Clinton said he was cute. I wonder if he’s changing like Ann Coulter did. Not a very good legacy for Bill Maher. Quite the accomplishment if you ask me.

I agree. And it's a shame that Dwight Eisenhower probably couldn't get elected today despite his status as a prime leader in WW2. And forget about Abraham Lincoln.
But on occasion, we have elected men who are not good looking. LBJ wasn't anything to look at and neither was Richard Nixon. But then again in each of those cases we had two non-attractive guys running against each other (Nixon against HHH & Johnson against Goldwater).
Some of the great Founding Fathers were not handsome men. But this is understandable as photography had not yet been invented. BTW, James Madison was 5'4". Does anyone thing a man that short could get elected today no matter how brilliant? Couldn't happen today.
It was the 1960 election that looks played a primary role. The difference in the election was that women pretty much elected JFK primarily on his looks. Women here won't like this but it's the truth. If Nixon had looked as good as Rick Perry he would have defeated Kennedy. Sorry women if this offends you but I'm the truthguy and in this case the truth hurts. Women are far more likely to vote for a candidate due to their looks than are men.

If such an otherwise intelligent chap like you thinks Perry is the ONLY one who can whip Zerobama electorally, I’d say that we’re in more trouble than I had imagined.

You are correct, that IS the question. We need these two to wrestle for world domination.
Did you see Putin even discovered sunken treasure (or something like that) off the Russian coast. WHILE HE WAS ON VACATION!
That man knows how to market his brand.
OK, I’m just joshing around. I know Putin is bad. But he’s not a panytwaist, and Obama is.
America needs a non-pantywaist for Pres. And yes, that could be a woman.

I think that any of the Republicans can, and will, defeat Obama....I won't put them in order of strength lest the opponents perceive a possible flaw in our strategy.

Perhaps. But you presume, as the lawyers say, facts not in evidence, to wit, that Perry is on anyone’s side but his own.
