Senior NCO grades are E-7s to 9.

Not slamming you but letting you know. From an eariler post it looks he is getting the boot for something else...

I don't believe the guy is being honest

Time in service is a better measure here to reflect his seniority, and thirteen years is long term. And BTW historically, it takes much longer to make rank in the Air Force than in the Army between the ranks of E-1 to E-7.

I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

If it is true that he is being discharged for other reasons, he may have figured he didn't have anything to lose and thought he should at least try to bring attention to the eligibility issue.

Or maybe he is using the eligibility issue to try and draw attention to the circumstances of his discharge. If what he said is correct, I’d find the matter of his discharge rather alarming.

I suppose we'll just have to see how this plays out.
