Texas governor Rick Perry opposes border fence, in Mexico

Texas governor Rick Perry - supporter of the Trans-Texas Corridor - said lots of things on a trip to Mexico today:

..."I don't think [immigration "reform"] is that difficult of an issue if Congress would have the maturity to sit down and really discuss it and cut out all of the mean rhetoric and really talk about what is a solution to this issue," Perry told a news conference.

Regarding immigration reform, Perry highlighted the importance of developing a foolproof biometric identification system to track individuals and to ensure that they pay taxes and "live within our laws."

Did I just hear boots off in the distance, or was I just imagining things?

He suggested offering renewable, 24-month visas for those who follow such requirements and "incarceration and/or deportation" for those who do not.

He added that, under such a system, he would support a "free flow of individuals between these two countries who want to work and want to be an asset to our country and to Mexico."

Since those are (I believe) two different countries, they will always have competing interests. Thus, it would appear that Perry foolishly thinks people can completely be an asset to both at the same time.

Perry also said Texas has given a blueprint for securing the U.S.-Mexico border to the federal government.

"We know how to deal with border security, and you don't do it by building a fence," he said. "You do it by putting boots on the ground; you do it by using the technology that's available ... and coordinating very highly with local, state and federal officials.

Why do our elected officials keep making trips to Mexico and making questionable comments there? A past example comes from WA governor Chris Gregoire but Nancy Pelosi set the gold standard back in 2003.

Please explain to me the difference between Perry’s stance on illegal immigration and McCain’s. One difference is, at least McCain has said he is for building a fence. Perry? Not so much. Texas has the highest number of minimum wage jobs in the nation, want to know why? I talked to a young man the other day, fresh from Mexico, and he told me he use to make 80 bucks for a 40 hr week of work there. They come to Texas sanctuary cities, where Perry’s largest campaign donors derailed the law that would have stopped sanctuary cities, and they work for minimum wage which is alot of money to them. This is the “ Texas economy” that you Perry supporters are claiming makes Perry the man to beat? Are you kidding me? In 2006, 70% of the women giving birth at Parkland Memorial in Dallas were illegals and Perry says doing away with the anchor baby situation is a “bad idea.” If Perry wins the election he will push the Drewm Act and in two years, or less, you and the rest of those who elected the fraud would be screaming, “We didnt know he would do that. Thats not what we voted for!” Sound familiar?

Giving them in state tuition is rewarding illegals and encouraging it. If Perry was serious, he would go after the companies that hire them for one. Kinda like the two, which are his biggest campaign donors, CEO’s of HEB and Perry Homes, who derailed the sanctuary cities law.

I disagree with the Dream act tuition BS.

My own kid cant get assistance here unless he becomes a resident for 3? years.

I pay taxes and I dont like that illegals get ANY tuition on my dime.

Still, here in Texas we work one issue at a time, and the major issue we face is OBAMA. He has to go! now!

1. I’m not your pal. 2. If you and the rest like you keep sticking your head in the sand and ignoring facts you wont be free long. 3. I feel sorry for TRUE Texans who have LOST their state to Mexico because of politicians like Perry and voters like you. Its a shame.

I understand your frustration.

Perry hasnt been the best governor but he beats the CRAP out of Obama.

For all his faults Perry has shown me he is pliable.
He does listen to the voters.

Obama? not so much.

I adore Sarah palin, but outside of the echo chamber of FR she has no support.

She has been demonized. I have never in my life seen such a decent person vilified as she has been

It’s not fair, but it’s the truth.

I agree, Obama has to go, but I believe if we dont pick wisely then we are done. Perry’s past is a deal breaker for me.

I think he can win.

We’ll leave it at that.
Politics is a messy business.

Let’s just get this ahole Obama, out of office along with his chicago cronies, and let’s unwind his ticking timebomb policy’s

Wasn’t Rick Perry caught cheerleading for a Chinese telecom giant not too long ago?

I can understand the interest in bringing much needed jobs to Texas, but “Huawei” is run by a former Chinese intelligence top dog. And never mind that the NSA, under both GWB & Hussein’s administrations, have acted to prevent business with this corporation.

Is Rick Perry receiving bribes from the Chinese, or is he simply too naive to understand the game that is being played here.

Perry being against the wall to keep out illegals, is a deal breaker for me. I will not vote for Perry because of this.
