Question about Rick Perry
Thurston

Posted on 08/13/2011 9:04:47 PM PDT by ThurstonHowell3

I really like what I'm HEARING from Rick Perry from his speeches and I liked his famous prayer from a few days ago. He has the appearence of what I WANT from a presidential candidate.

But I am concerned about some of the questions being raised about his record not on immigration but on ILLEGAL immigration.

I would appreciate some feedback from those who know more about his record with SOURCES to substantiate them (good or bad).

For instance, I've HEARD people say that he attended Bilderberg 2007. I'm not one who has much knowledge on "Bilderbergers", Tri-lateral Commission Illuminati and all of those topics often discussed by so-called "conspiracy theorists". But I don't dismiss them, especially in these days when yesterdays "conspiracy theory" seems to be today's reality.

More than ever I am not ready to believe anyone just because they say the right things and have a form of godliness. Cultists all do that well and are very compelling. I want to know more about his ACTIONS and history.

Thanks for your feedback in advance.

I’ve been here long enough and studied enough to know what’s what.
I will continue to defend my governor as long as people spam every Perry thread with the same old inaccurate BS.

“Perry is NOT an amnesty proponent”
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

I don’t think Perry is an “Amnesty proponent”.

But i DO think Perry can have his arm twisted by cheap labor loving, big business donors. And that is why the “sanctuary city” bill died this spring.

If he became POTUS, what guarantee do we have that he won’t let the US chamber of Commerce, the big agriculture growers, the restaurant and hotel industry and ALL who benefit from cheap illegal labor, twist his little arm into signing an amnesty bill.

The answer is we have NO guarantee.

Unless he is MADE to absolutely PLEDGE not to do it.

“If you had taken time to read my info at the bottom of my post, you would have seen I AM a Texas.
Your info about Perry is inaccurate”
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Your a Texan... Great.

My Perry info is JUST as accurate as yours.

You have no guarantee... NONE... that Rick Perry won’t try to ram through an amnesty bill just like “W” tried to do.

Do you?

Any politician MIGHT try and do that. Heck, Reagan did more than try. He did.

And you would like another(amnesty)???

If not.. you better be asking Perry some hard question about that, before making him your candidate...

Or you WILL get another amnesty.

Geeez people.. WAKE UP!!! Why take his word for it?

These people running will tell you ANYTHING you want to hear, and then later say... “Well.. I didn’t really mean...”

Since you refer to questions that have been asked and answered over and over, today, I'll repost from a couple of my answers to those questions and ping some of the posters who replied to you, here. Perry has established his credentials in the Great State of Texas, the reddest State in the Union. Have you read our Republican Platform? Perry has survived nearly 11 years with maybe 3 problems with the Platform, and those are not deal-breakers. Obviously.

Perry has demanded that Republicans stop trying to get the left to like us. He will not apologize for his worship of the Creator as the source of our inalienable rights. He is pro-life and understands why he’s pro-life - from conception to natural death.

He fights for one man one woman marriage and championed our Defense of Marriage amendment to the State Constitution. He is certainly pro-2nd amendment and carries when out jogging (don’t mess with his dog).

There’s been criticism of his Emerging Technology Fund and other recruiting of businesses for Texas. However, he has used the opportunities he’s had to bring hi-tech biotechnology and his connections to encourage Caterpillar and other industry to move more manufacturing to Texas.

All of the above explains why he says he “came to my senses” about trying to change the Democratic Party from within.

You'll see that quite a few people post a fragment from the tail end of a speech by Perry on "open borders. However, few are brave enough to post the whole statement, much less the link to the long, rather frank talk that includes disputes with Mexico:

“President Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace, as long as we demonstrate the will to address the obstacles to it. An open border means poverty has given way to opportunity, and Mexico’s citizens do not feel compelled to cross the border to find that opportunity.

YES YES YES..... We all know Perry fits the profile VERY well. Nobody disputes that...

But he HAS to explain WHY, If he is SO tough on border security, that he wasn’t the FIRST Governor to sign a SB 1070 Bill like Jan Brewer DID!!!

If Jan Brewer were running for POTUS, we wouldn’t have to ask her that....Would we???

And Perry needs to explain why he stated that an SB 1070 law “was not right for Texas”.

It sure looked right to Robert Bentley over in the GREAT STATE OF ALABAMA.. Roll Tide!! because he just passed one too.

The same 10th Amendment will protect our Texas Defense of Marriage. The DOMA amendment to our Constitution has already been tested several times by people trying to get divorced in our State or dissolve civil unions. Those do not exist in Texas, so no judge can hear them.

As to the prayer, my husband and I prayed along with the Governor, via the Internet. Governor Perry did not preach. He prayed.

Alan Keyes should not have written that column condemning Governor Perry for not saying the exact words Keyes would have said. Keyes breaks my heart with these criticisms. I would love to see one such column where someone is good enough for him.

I pray for both men all the time and have again because of that critique. Lord bless them both.

No, he does not have to explain why. The State Legislature has not passed a similar Bill, he can’t sign it.

We did get voter ID.

Our version of an anti-sanctuary Bill came close twice this year, but did not pass. Fortunately, our Legislature only meets 120 days or so every 2 years, with “Special Sessions” for emergency actions such as passing the budget that was filibustered and killed at midnight in the regular session.

The Lege may only deal with specific items that the Governor names and he put our version of the anti-sanctuary cities on the agenda. Then came the hair splitting, fights over words and divisions all over - the Bill did not get passed.

I agree that I’d like to enforce immigration laws better.

I am not convinced that the political cost was worth the reward of Perry ramming through a “sanctuary” city law.

The very name of this issue is flimsy. There isn’t a city council in Texas that’s passed a “sanctuary city” law.

It’s all a label for local law enforcement expecting federal ICE and DHS officers to do their jobs in the first place.

Perry can't run away from his speeches that are posted online by the office of the Governor of the State of Texas. They're all there---his pandering to Mexico, Muslims, and La Raza.

Deny it at your own peril.

“So, Thurston, you just signed up on Free Republic today to post an entire vanity thread and bring up conspiracy theories about Perry, the most conservative candidate in the field right now that can actually trounce Obama? “

I was about to ask this same question. You beat me. ;-)

>Gov. Perry has made numerous requests of the federal govt. to enforce the border in Texas including handing President Obama a letter in person when he landed in Dallas last year.
(Obama insulted governor Perry when he turned away and Perry had to hand the letter on the illegals issue to presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett. Obama declined to personally accept it.)

Obama’s egotistical rudeness is going to reap consequences that he NEVER considered.

This over-the-top criticism and your sign-up date of April this year gives you NO credence with me.

Oh, so you're saying Perry is like Obama - leading from behind?

The Lege may only deal with specific items that the Governor names...

Looky there - further along in your post.

He can propose it as an agenda, can't he? But, he won't.

Didn’t Perry sign the Southern Governors’ Association resolution allowing for the importation of farm workers from Mexico?
