I've had many conversations with Brits. They are actually proud to be disarmed, and think it is a sure step toward real civilization.
I wonder if they are still thinking that way?
I know what you are talking about. It’s baffling and
infuriating.
It really is a cultural difference, isn’t it? But inherent in allowing yourself to be disarmed is the understanding that the government must defend you. You are giving up your basic ability to defend yourself, with the philosophy that you must be taken care of in this way.
I’ve always said the smallest philosophical changes have huge implications.
If you are actually giving over the safety of yourself and family to a powerful outside force, heck, you will always be ready for victimhood. It means you expect others to take care of you. You will never really succeed or excel because everything you are must come from others.
So sad. And we must fight like tigers to let that helpless defeatest idea take over our society.
